Disposal of waste water

During our last recent couple of breaks away, I have noticed that people are not disposing of their waste water correctly. Instead of going to the site points, they are walking up and down behind caravans, the side of their units just letting it pour out. Surely when the warm weather comes, things will begin to smell and cause rats.

Evening

The issue of grey water being disposed of in places other than the designated drains is increasing unfortunately. Be it a hose into the hedgerow or a waste tap just cracked open to drain  overnight on the pitch. I only speak from experience onsite, but already this season (We've been open 23 days) I've had to speak to quite a few who have "always used cl's where it's ok" or "the pipe on the motorhomes got a leak". Funny how the motorhome pipe leak reason only happens at night time. I often have a walk around late on just to check lights and all's well etc and there's times when walking past a pitch you can hear water flowing noise and see the waste tap wide open onto the grass. A knock on the door at ten o'clock to ask for an explanation and the look on some peoples faces says it all. So it's not an exaggeration as it's definitely increasing. Sad to see the lack of respect not only for the site but for other people to use the pitch next.

I don’t doubt it’s a growing problem either furtive nighttime activity or the more brazen who habitually open the drain valve in broad daylight when driving off the site. I guess in the case of the former, if a few do it there’s probably not much impact, but multiply that by thousands of campers on a regular basis and it becomes a problem. In the case of the latter, same applies with the added problem that perception by non-campers witnessing such behaviour is not good and we all get tarred with the same brush.

You are not on holiday. In fact you are the sherif. Which site are you then I know to keep away for fear of being caught doing wrong.
