Absolutely agree with that - and that's not hindsight, I said so at the time. And of course,  even now "elite" sport is allowed with teams travelling backwards and forwards into and out of tier 4 areas. Why? undecided

Likewise. Stick a load of people in close proximity, have them shouting and screaming, with a highly infectious disease around, what could possibly go wrong? 😱

In theory and for the most part in practice elite sports people are working in such a way as eliminate the risk of them catching the virus and spreading it should they do so.  There is far more risk from people such as shop workers spreading the infection especially as there is so many of them by comparison.  The biggest spreaders have been the teens and young adults especially since they reopened the schools, colleges and Unis.

Elite sports don't eliminate the risk entirely whatever their practices and regimes. Take Lewis Hamilton as an example.

Perhaps minimise would have been a better choice of word.  Lewis and a few others have been the exceptions that prove the rule but for the most part the protocols have been remarkably successful.

So it took the might of the British Army, NHS, UK Police force and some Polish fire fighters to clear up the mess at the port of Dover, all sacrificing their Christmas to clean up a situation that was not of our making. My daughter who is NHS said most of the truckers were just grateful for the tenacity shown by all, and were just glad to be on the move again despite having to endure some very difficult conditions.

Plus 1 Rufs.  But the French can't be blamed for being careful and they did send a substantial number of their own people to assist.  Although in true French style they did rather concentrate on their own citizen / truckers.

Very sorry to hear about the plight of the Welsh hospital asking for extra medical hands to help with Covid patients. Is the message still not getting across in some areas that this could happen in other places too?
