Instead of God Save the Queen , it's being put to parliament today / tomorrow that the English sporting teams should have there own anthem for when they are competing  the nations ect  , Jerusalem appears to be the favourite

personally I don't see a problem Scotland Ireland and Wales have there's so why not England

Think a vote would be a brilliant idea

how about, keep God save the queen for UK but use 'land of hope and glory' for England

They are NOT doing away with God Save the Queen ,

That will stay for when the country GB are united   The English Athem will be the same as Wales Scotland and Ireland have when they are competing seperatly, as for the voting if the MP who was putting it forward for 2 days in parliament gets it through to a green or white paper ( can't remember which ) named 4/5 and it looks like there may be a vote by Internet or post

I personally really hope this goes through and the English get their own anthem.  and I'm Welsh

It's one of the times when I really, really wish I was French. Is there a better more rousing anthem than Le Marseillaise? En avant, mes Braves!!

I think you'll find we were giving examples of "rousing" anthems Brian

Why do you consider that to be off-topic?
