I Remember When

I remember Liquorice wood

I remember getting a second hand bike that my grandfather had done up! as a Christmas present and I was grateful as it arrived on the roofrack on my grandfathers car!

Lapping in inlet and exhaust valves with carberundum paste and a stick!!

And Jimmy Clitheroe

I remember running along to the shop for my mum to buy a packet of five cigarettes usually Turf or Woodbines.

Does anyone remember the start of Rock 'n' Roll with Bill Haley Little Richard etc.? I do, it'll stay with me forever. Great times.

And Gene Vincent ,,,Chuck Berry,,,Buddy Holly ,,,Lonnie Donegan etc etc .

So do, I we bought it from the greengrocer. The other kind of liquorice that you bought to suck and stick in a bag of sherbet was always called "Spanish" round these parts.

There was Spanish Gold which was a cinnamon flavoured Coconut 

sweet tobacco 

Sherbert saucers .  (tongue stingers ) .

Yeah triky the list goes on. I remember seeing Gene Vincent at Slough Adelphi, with I think Joe Brown and a few other greats from that era. He was in great pain which I think was the result of the car crash in which he was travelling with Eddie Cochrane who was killed!
