The granny's favourite " the Great British Bakeoff" will no longer be broadcast by the BBC soon.

It is alleged to be going to Channel 4. But possibly without the usual presenters. Berry, Hollywood.Perkins and Giedroyc.

You might ask -- Who Cares ?, but as it is a programme liked by my wife - I do.

Although the programme is not my scene, I can see it's attraction for females.

Once again the BBC would appear to be discriminating against programmes for women. .

What do our female posters think ?.

It's a sign of the new more realistic times at the BBC. I saw a report which said that they'd offered the production company £15 million, roughly double what they paid for this series. But the company wouldn't settle for any less than £25 million. Same story with The Voice I guess.

It could be said that it's not before time at the Beeb but I think we may well see more companies launching shows like this on the BBC and then flogging them off to the highest bidder if they become successful. At least on C4 this one can still be watched by those of us who refuse to make Mssrs Murdoch & Branson even wealthier!

Nothing wrong with discrimination, Bakeoff is rubbish.

All programmes should be manly and geared towards us men Laughing

What total garbage, it went out for competitive tender and Channel 4 put in the highest bid at £25 million as opposed to the BBC £15 million.  Until the BBC start to make their own programmes again this is going happen time and again!

Well Sue and Mel won't be there, these programmes always lose their sparkle and go on for too long. The BBC has had a good run with the series.

The BBC are being outbid on a number of high-profile programmes. Are we going to go down the route of Premier league silly money for TV entertainment as well?

Agreed - maybe Branson/Murdoch could take The Apprentice off our hands - and, dare I say it, Strictly (on second thoughts, no I daren't say that! Wink)
