As soon as the lockdown is lifted.I ask because both my husband and I are over seventy and my husband has been notified that he is very vulnerable because of some health issues.I was thinking maybe a fully serviced pitch where we can use our own facilities?

Can’t understand why bank holidays should be any different from say, this sunny week TW. Most people are not working at the moment, why wait till it’s a bank holiday to flout the rules?undecided

I’m not sure it’s correct to say most people aren't working, Nevers, but whether it’s most or many, it’s ingrained in a lot of people's minds that bank hols are the time to head for the seaside/Lakes/countryside. Being a bank hol will make a difference, believe me.☹️

Just realised the upside is we are saving a good few quid by not eating out.smile

The downside is having to eat the OHs cooking every day.undecided

Or even worse mine.laughing

OH was just say last night that she hopes SIL is saving all the money he is no longer spending in the pub as they will need it once the nursery re-opens, as their costs will double since we grandparents will still be locked away and not allowed to do our afternoon childcare stints!

All this talking about people getting restless due to the lockdown........it has only been about 5 weeks!   Most people can keep in touch via Skype, FaceTime etc, occasional shopping is allowed, and the weather has been great for going for walks etc.  If it had been 5 months now, that would be more understandable.

There are still quite a lot of people working.  For example our daughter is in IT, she is still working, from home, and has to spread out her work over the whole day as they also have a 2 year old who is usually at nursery in the mornings and with we grandparents in the afternoons.

SIL is a secondary teacher so, although his school is shut he is still setting and marking work for his classes, and has to go every so often to the hub school to supervise the children of the key workers.

Likewise our son, also in IT, normally works 100% from home, so no change for him, and his wife is also a teacher(part time) so is home schooling their 2 as well as gong to the hub school on a rota basis.

I suppose I’m going off the households in my area but thinking about it many of us are retired so would be at home anyway.

I wouldn’t like to think that the people who are working during the lockdown are the ones that would flout the rules during bank holidays.frown

Certainly not our son or daughter!

Bank holidays seem to be much more an English thing.

There may be a Monday school holiday up here, but we really do not do bank holidays otherwise

We’ll definitely go!!!

if the Club have the distancing measures in place that they announced in March (pay by phone when you arrive etc), we will be out in our caravan ASAP.  Husband over 70, me under 70 with no health issues luckily.

We won’t use the toilet blocks and will wear disposable gloves and use gel when filling up with water etc.

Shopping won’t be any more risk than at home, and we never eat out even in normal times, we take our own flask and picnic, and in the evenings we always eat at the caravan.

So yes, once the sites are open we hope to be out enjoying the UK scenery, walking, enjoying nature and glad to be alive!!!  (Fingers crossed.....)

Good luck and stay safe everyone.

There was an update on the news tonight. As well as the fine for breaking the lockdown rules, the driver was also prosecuted and fined for having no driving licence or insurance, plus his car was seized.

I must apologise. I mistook the case of the numpty M linked to for another muppet who made the news tonight.
