When is a rule not a rule?

Just got back from Cromer Seacroft site where there are two notices at the entry stating “Sorry no arrivals before 1.00pm”. However on at least two occasions we witnessed people, not only arriving before 1.00pm but being booked in and allowed on site, why do I bother timing my journeys and / or stopping in lay-bys to ensure I arrive after the advertised time when the rule is so blatantly ignored by others (including the wardens who allow it to happen)? 🤬

My understanding was that the change from 12 to 1300 hrs admittance was because or COVID and to allow the wardens time to sanitise key fobs, barrier cards etc. Now the COVID regulations are gone, the club should return to a policy of 12 out, 12 in, except for sites with potential traffic issues

A uniform time across the network has got to be a good idea. Unless you want to impose out by 11am at sites with traffic issues, it has to be 1pm. For those with caravans I can appreciate they would prefer 12, due to the generally longer setting up times and difficulty stopping on route. Now with a MH I don’t find it an issue, even on short hops.

While the regulations have been lifted COVID has NOT gone away! Like many hospitality organisation my guess is the site managers are still doing a lot of extra cleaning/sanitising which will be with us for sometime. Personally I do not mind the arrival time being 1p.m. because it is very rare for me to arrive much before then. Locally I use CL sites, use of a Club site is likely to be some distance away requiring long travel times.

I look on the £12 extra as a penalty for not being a member rather than the members receiving a £12 reduction for being a member.  After all the headline prices advertised do not include nor are they based upon the prices including the £12.

What they are based on is clearly stated DD, even the 50% mid week discount in this case. I personally think they should include for two adults but otherwise they are industry standard. Or do other providers show the maximum prices, including the unforeseen add ons. I suspect not.

I've experienced the same as Micky. Non-members quickly become members I think.

Btw, the difference is now £13 p/n.

Do you know for a fact that site staff no longer carry out the enhanced cleaning regime?

Exactly.  So the way it is presented means that the £13 extra a non-member would have to pay is an extra or penalty.

To present it as a reduction it should say £25.75 etc. Members pay £12.75.  To present it in reverse is just commercial puff or perhaps dishonest.

I'd say there's no question of dishonesty in view of the explanation shown. It's clearly a marketing ploy and no more than that.

So where is the "penalty" on member only sites?

A interesting way of looking at it, but incorrect in my view.

You mean the club is giving a penalty or some sort of a punishment for not being a member?

I get money off products each week at Sainbury's for having their app and a nectar card, so in your view is that Sainbury's giving a penalty to those that do not have these?

Penalty: a disadvantage suffered as the result of an action or situation

That's the way I look at the reduced price as an advantage for being a member, and I can honestly say being a member hasn't cost me a penny.
