Pitching Instructions

Has the club abandoned pitching guidelines? I've always been told quite firmly to reverse the van onto a pitch with the nearside corner next to the peg.

I'm currently at Malvern Hills and people are going freestyle with people seemingly pitching in any direction they want.  I wish I'd been told this when I arrived as I would have ignored what I thought was a rule in favour of a better view.

So I'd never get away with this on a C&MC site then would I. Oh, to be on a French site.

Hopefully not, that looks like something purchased from 'Screwfix' in readiness for a sit in campaign.

I don't think so. What you describe could result in the scenario DK described with the van on the wrong side of the peg.

When you join the club and see the pitches for real, all will become clear😁

Commonsense my dear boy. If the peg was offset by a couple of metres you would probably struggle to fit the caravan on the wrong side without going onto the grass strip.

Unless of course these car park sites I hear of are actually worse than I remember.

I don’t know how they organise the grass, but the C&CC instructions for their HS pitches are not subject to misinterpretation in the same way as the CAMC. The spacing is maintained by having narrower pitches and the simple instruction keep it on the hardstanding. So far they have also been very consistent without the variation that affects the  CAMC, particularly on some sites.

Go back and read what you wrote about pitching with "a" rear corner to the peg and occupying the side with the largest area of HS.

"pitch to the peg with a rear corner with the caravan to which ever side has the most space on the hardstanding".

And please don't "dear boy" me, it's not good coming from a Pieeater.

PS. Neat edit!

Some sites do have pitches with the peg on the left side of the pitch and it goes RV, awning car. However, it’s somewhat problematic if you have a continental caravan and no power mover.

I have been to a non club site once where we were given a scetch of the pitching rule. I have been to about 250 where we were not.wink

Recently I take it,  as I understand from a site staff  member, it is getting more common overseas to give pitching instructions now as the local bombardiers? are clamping down on the way some sites squeeze LVs insurprised,

I don’t recall ever being advised how to pitch over there. If it’s a contained hedged pitch it’s best to do as here,  car - RV - awning as some like to park their RV hard against the hedge. Aires often have very defined pitches with lines or bits of board.

Just quoting from a  a member of  site staff ,who had been there last winter, and going again next month., it was in answer to a site user who was asking him about clue fire breaks in this country and the difference .with pitching in Spain

The pitching rules are what they are on club sites, they are well known, maybe apart from the OP, there is a safety reason for the peg system but which you can agree with or not but if you want to use a club site then that is the way you have to pitch. If it's not to your liking then leave it to those who either do or really do not see it as as a big deal.
