Pitch Prices

I was thinking we might like to go to Oban, or nearby (we've been before), as there's a good off-road cycle track, which you can extend by catching the Corran Ferry and a quiet road on the other side.  There are two Club sites in the area, one at Onich and another at Barcaldine which are suitable.  I compared prices for 2 adults, 5 nights from 16th April, hardstanding with ehu: C&MHC Bunree £191; C&CC (with age concession) £107.

I wonder which one I should choose?

You can still be working & get the age concession with the other club .... not everyone retired at 60 with a gold plated final salary pension.

It’s still a lovely location, even when the weather isn’t so kind. It would be our choice.

It's funny how memory plays tricks, I thought we were there last perhaps ten years ago but after searching for the photos, it was 21!

I'm not sure why you're asking us? It's totally your choice, just choose the one that gives you what you want in terms of VFM and quality?

I think the question was rhetorical, which you probably knew.

No I didn't, or more precisely cannot, know actually. If a question is asked, and as I'm not a mind reader, it's very difficult to know if it's rhetorical or not?

So what's the point of this thread if not to ask a question? What is the OP saying? One price is different from another? With all due respect - so what?

Prices differ all the time between campsites and people should choose the one they want based, as been posted, not only on prices but other factors that are important to those booking.

“So what?”  We last stayed at Bunree in October 2020. Today’s price for the equivalent days (not dates) is £10 dearer per night for 2 people. £24 is now £34. I don’t think that’s a reasonable increase.  41% in 2 years.

My criteria for choosing a site is that it has reasonable toilet/shower facilities and is convenient for walking/cycling straight from the site to do routes I have previously researched as suitable for our abilities. And it is rural. I’m not interested in the view as I live in a beautiful part of Scotland with an exceptional view and have previously lived in several such and have visited most parts of Scotland in my life, so a site with a view is a bonus but not essential.

Price is not a criteria either unless I feel it is a rip off. Eg, a site we have been to before now charges £2 per dog per night.  We have 2 dogs so we won’t be going there again.

Again I'm not sure, like the OP, what your point is here GJ, you don't think it's a reasonable increase and that's great, no one is forcing you to pay it and choose something different, but likewise others might think it is reasonable. Totally up to the person booking.

For myself (as we're trading insights) and as with all things I buy it's not about any reasonable increases it's about do I want to buy it or not? Do I want to stay on that site or not and if yes I buy/book. For myself it's never about what the increase is from last year and is it reasonable. Those are the prices.
