The Club have released more details of the new Booking System here

There are still finer details still to be arrived but the link (thanks Harry) sets out how the new system will work.

I have closed the previous thread on when we will get details of the new booking system and opened this one to allow comments specifically on the new system rather than discussing what they might be.

... if I die within the 21 days I won’t rest in peace if I lose my deposit.

You could come back & haunt Grinstead Towers 🙄😂

There'd be no one to haunt if they're all working from homeyell

Agree with that but that wasn't my point, it was not about cancelling with 21 days it was about just not turning up, not telling anyone, and just losing £25, which is my view isn't that much to lose.

If you're giving it away Corners my address is .................North Devon.surprised

You get what you incentivise!"

Then if the plan is to discourage 'late' cancellations/no shows, the penalty, as Corners observes, needs to be greater than £25 and sufficient to achieve the objective.

Don't forget that £25 is the minimum unless the one night fee is less. 20% of a two week booking would be a decent incentive in my opinion.

I suppose those who think that some will surrender the deposit rather than let the site know are probably thinking of weekends rather than longer holidays?

Quite easy to tweak the system and have the stay paid in full 21 days before arrival or if booked within those 21 days then pay in full. It's what other sites do as a rule and certainly what I would expect from hiring a cottage or apartment for a stay.

I can imagine the competition are looking at these changes with glee, a club with over a million members,18 million booked nights a year and a £100+ millon turnover changing its rules and booking systems to be the same or stricter than theirs, what an opportunity for them with so many dissatisfied members with very little reason to stick with the CMC sites.

I thought at first that too but the club's booking conditions are still pretty good. I was looking at an old club site that is now independent and they want all the money up front, many others want a deposit which is not refundable, and/or will charge an admin fee per night if you cancel. And really you can book now under the old T&C for all of this year and till April 2023.

The club's 21 days and all monies refunded is still 'good' compared to others, though I wish the current system didn't have to go.

"Independent" and charging all the money up front. Good for them. I can guarantee that their customers do not pay an annual fee for the the privilege to do so ...
