Just came across this on Faceache.  Might be useful to know.

You’re missing the point, in those places staying as long as you like and nature isn’t a consideration. It’s essentially an overnight stop, two at most for the majority - convenience is what it’s all about.

Not missing the point at all there Bill but thanks for trying to point it out.

If I was in the market I'd prefer supporting CL's than DCC.

Not sure Corners was missing the point at all in recommending CLs, Bill, though he might just have missed the fact that you'd just done the very same thing yourself!

"However, the best site in Durham is Durham Amateur Rowing Club CL."laughing

That’s a really useful facility, a few shops just across the road if I remember correctly. However, the best site in Durham is Durham Amateur Rowing Club CL.

There are no shops across the road any more and haven't been for many years, but there's a Shell garage which does have a smallish shop in it but to get there you'll have to cross the seven lane very busy road from Durham to Sunderland and it gets very congested at rush hour.

There are small shops, a Sainbury's local supermarkets, and takeaways and pubs a mile or so down the road into Belmont.

Mmm, I only gave one answer and it was factual. You're having a good holiday, I hope.

Nothing like local knowledge Corners👍 Some would consider that a decent review for the P&R.🤣

I think we would have to be pretty desperate to stay over in P&R to be honest. Mind we have done Washington Services with van on back. That was a night never to be repeated🤣

Actually, I never responded to your post, SB, neither to agree nor disagree so you’re way off beam there.

Back to the topic. Perhaps Corners can say if, in his opinion, there is much call for such a facility in Durham. It’s not an area I’m familiar with.

When is a shop directly across the road not a shop in your world? Have you observed the growth in convenience stores attached to petrol stations? It’s quite the rage these days.

I can walk to Washington serviced in about 5 minutes, next time you're there let me know and I'll put the kettle on!
