Cost of C & MC sites

I chose to book this in the full knowledge that it is expensive, no regrets but worth putting on here anyway.

We tend to use sites in South Dorset in April, while beaches (Sandbanks, Bournemouth etc) are still open for dogs ( I know, I know)

Whilst in the New Forest last week we called at the Centennial site, liked what we saw so booked on line. 12 nights, April 2022 so off season. Full service pitch, 2 adults, 1 dog; 12 nights. £44.36 per night - ouch.

We usually use a commercial site at Lytchett Minster, which for full service, hardstanding, including streamable wifi - £30 per night (April 2020). Other facilities are on a par with CMC sites, except for the dog walk which is a whole field. A non returnable deposit of £50 is required here, but last year we were able to move the booking from April to October  (Covid) at no extra cost.

We wanted a change of scenery so decided to pay the CMC rate, and the location is better than Lytchett, with easy access to the New Forest. Now it could be that Lytchett's prices for next year will be hiked - I don't know.

Not complaining, just dispelling any remaining myths that CMC sites are cheaper for members than comparable commercial sites. Pays your money & takes your choice.

But then if it encourages. more m/c users to use a THS it will give those of us with a complete go any wher outfits use of any sites not just those with PT close so more pitches

I am afraid you’ve lucked out there JVB. We are very unlikely to use a THS, although will go for any site with decent walks wether public transport is available or not.😉

<Panto> Oh yes I would.</panto> I'd have just used more gas as I had less solar in those days.

And really you prove my point, quality is subjective, and really just because you say it is better doesn't really mean it is to others?

Posted on 28/08/2021 18:19

What I'm saying is that I've been there and at least have perception of their quality offering.

you haven't, so I suggested you try it to get that same perspective.

We have been on several occasions , and very rarely used the complex unless we wanted something from the shop, when we go it is for the area as next year

I've just got back from a few nights on a THS on the edge of Lymington. £11 per night all in. Not quite such a manicured environment as CAMC but do I really want to pay £33 a night for a strimmer/mower serenade?
