Hi everyone,

Looking to book for 2019? Right now, you can book up to and including 31 March 2019. We've changed the way we put UK Club site pitches on sale so you can now book up to a year ahead, all year round. All you need to remember is whichever month we are in, you can book up to and including the same month next year. Find out more: Improving your Club experience and on our FAQs.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I've forwarded the discussions over to the sites team for their feedback regarding booking hardstanding pitches and we appreciate people sharing their views and opinions which we value at the Club.

A couple of posts have been removed to keep the discussion on track regarding advance booking and we appreciate people's understanding on this matter.

As someone who does 150+ away nights each year. Some wild whilst fishing, a mix of Cl, CC and commercial sites I believe I have a good grasp of the quality of sites. LMP certainly comes low down the list, but other CC sites I find excellent. ie Brecon,Hawes etc. I wonder if some who have rose tinted glasses actually  visit those sites that are below par.

It is 4 years since I last visited Lady Margaret's. The block was dated but I had no problem with 'dated'

I visited Lady Margaret's about 12 months ago. As above, dated but perfectly adequate & clean.

I understand the club's both have a rolling programme of refurbishment of facility blocks and sites and as they have between them 300 plus sites,  it is a bit diferent to most comercial organisations who have just a few ,so a couple of sites that are getting near their refurbishment dates are not a problem I would think for most members , we most years do over 150 nights away both club and some commercial also have been known to use cls, so i think we can say we have used a "few"facility's each year and not found any that have been as bad as one or two try to make out they are, except for one CL in Cornwall

When we were members we did occasionally visit CC sites  (never at high season rates). Whilst I never thought there were spacious they were always clean but did vary from dated to modern. We recently visited  a C&CC site and an ex CL. I found the former to be much more spacious and the latter has raised the quality bar to another level.

So whilst CAMC cleanliness is still guaranteed I would say that when designing new blocks the designers need to throwaway the old plans and look around at the competition.

Rowena

Thanks for the update and also passing on to the site team about booking hardstandings. We have never really had a comprehensive answer as to why the previous experiment either failed or proved inconclusive. There were vague mutterings about it being confusing to members which caused problems for wardens in trying to explain the change. I think what the Club should do is to make a decision on whether they want to go down the road of booking surface type. If the answer is no then they need to explain why. If it is something they want to put in place it has to be done network wide not on a few sites. If our main competitors the C&CC and the majority of commercial sites, that have a mix of pitch surface types, allow booking of the various pitch types it seems the CMC are somewhat behind the curve on this?

David, good post and several posters have liked it....i just think it's worth emphasising again that this is a very popular issue with much support among CT members.

i didn't get to visit one of the trial sites so had no opportunity to be confused...however, I just don't see it being anymore 'difficult' than managing an 'awning' or 'service pitch' booking, but there you go...

with this current change to the booking system, I think the club missed a great chance to include the pitch type attribute, something which just about all the competition have had in place for a good while now...

i really hope the club get to look at this again and, as you say, carry it through the whole network rather than just the tiny sample as last time...

again, good post smile

Then the "problem" of individual design puts up costs when the main structure of the buildings are sound,

I did mention new buildings not existing buildings.

The question is would you prefer for them to still carry on using a  out dated design.
