I am Blue Badge Registered Disabled and struggling to get a hard standing pitch since they have changed booking procedures to Standard Pitch on some sites where there used to be a choice.

We are definitely talking about Club sites and not Affiliated Sites? Just a question.

I would  have thought that an AS should pick up the phone, or at least call back, as after all they are usually a commercial organisation

I sympathise with your situation, but it would seem the current club processes and procedures do not suit your needs. Maybe think about booking the pitch that suits your needs at a site that allows it and take the added stress out of your situation.

Good luck with your future trips.

Tried that One. It seems not all wardens accommodate Blue Badge Disabled Long term Members.

Perhaps if I was a “Newbee”, I would have more of a response.

What a strange post? we have been members longer the most who post on here, and as i posted earlier have never not had a conversation with site staff by phone or a returned call to discuss our needs

I agree with JVB, any time OH has rung a site to request a pitch close to the disabled  facilities, she has always had a good response, and an undertaking that they will do their best.

Many years back, maybe up till around 2001, there was a box on the on line booking form where you could enter such special requests, though the undertaking was that the warden would do their best.....i.e.no guarantees.

This was removed without notice as apparently "disabled members did not like being allocated pitches right beside the toilets or being identified as disabled by the use of the little wheelchair sign".  A retrograde step IMO.

So now you have to ring every site ahead of your arrival to make your request, though the undertaking is still the same....that the warden will do their best.

Wardens are not allowed to question you regarding your disability, and members need to be aware that not all disabilities are visible.  My OH does not look disabled, but a long standing medical condition, and a more recent shoulder replacement means that she needs help with showering, so she politely asks if we could possibly have a pitch close to the  disabled facilities, and wardens are always helpful.

We do not need a hardstanding, though we prefer one, but pitches close to the  block are usually hardstandings.   If you do need a HS, but not necessarily near the facilities then that would be your request.

A few sites have "disabled pitches" set aside permanently, but most will allocate you a pitch from what is available on the day you arrive, or possibly a day or two ahead of that at busy periods.  You can choose a different pitch if you prefer.

I would be amazed if a CAMC warden refused to try to accommodate your request.
