Please note arrival time has changed for Ferry Meadows. We are due to stay there in a few days and checked our booking which said arrival time 13:00 not 12:00 . We have noticed a few sites have changed booking in times, so best to check before setting off, as the wardens will not let you in earlier.

“The wardens will not let you in”….Even though there are vacancies every day at Ferry Meadows for the next fortnight.

when you make a booking it could be months ahead of the actual arrival date.....

what you put on a form then may have no bearing whatsoever to the schedule being adopted 'on the day'...

nothing to do with being inconsiderate, everything to do with prevailing schedule/conditions.

What has that got to do with early arrivals if you book a site for the earliest window of arrivalssurprised and arrive before that I think even you would say they are being deliberately inconsiderate ? And if running later than the two hour window a call to the site I would think would be Good mannerswink

This was the queue to get onto the FM site on Friday. So much for requesting members to stick to the appropiate time.

Not my photo AD but understand it was at about 1230 when the site managers started letting them in.

It is not unusual to have a queue on a Friday at FM we have seen the queue to be beyond the level crossingsurprised

Clumber Park is another on a Friday the queue can be out to Lime Tree Avenuetongue-out

Why is that? is it the time taken to check people in  or the numbers arriving together because its not going to be anything to do with arriving early then is it.

It is not unusual on a Friday at both sites to have 125 or more arrivals the check in in is now quicker with two tills on the go but even now covid is still around ,the time it takes to advise members of as most will know of how to pitch and what type of pitch they have booked takes time.  ; then the member unless a regular visitor willl, have multiple questions ,then there will be those who have arrived and got pitched will be coming back to get a barrier card for their pitch, even if a member of staff is dedicated to each procedure, and remember at FM with problems they get at times each arrival is checked off at the First barrier to ensure of a booking

It's not unusual on bigger sites to have 100+ arrivals in a day. Peoples booking habits always seem to ensure it's at the weekend. So, if the sites full, there will be an equal amount of departures to arrivals, let's say we're fully staffed, forget any groundwork and start booking in at 9.00. To do that efficiently it probably takes between 5 to 10 minutes each arrival. Add in people coming back with the pitch number for the barrier card and with the best will in the world there will be a queue. Another way is to do what we call "fasttrack", where we greet arrival, mark off the paperwork, take membership card and request a call back to reception later to pay. Although slightly quicker it still takes time with that number coming in. Now factor in staffing levels that are sometimes short for whatever reason, add in a bit of groundwork with a slide into the toilet block for a deep clean, maybe, just maybe time for a quick brew then race to the arrival area to try and keep things flowing.

It's not always about the mad rush at arrival time, sometimes it's just the sheer volumes of comings and goings. One Saturday at Looe last year we had 175 arrivals and the same departures. Even phoning some and welcoming them to come early didn't prevent lengthy queues from 9.00 until at least 16.00
