8 outfits on CL site

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. There are no circumstances where we can allow a site to have more than 5 units on the CL site.

The 5 pitch rule is one of the conditions the Club has to follow to allow us to be able to Certificate CL sites. Consistent rule breaks could put our exemption at risk and we therefore take these rule breaks very seriously.

Unfortunately with such a large number of CL sites and a small admin team it is difficult for us to monitor these rule breaks with out the help of members reporting them to us.

Please could I ask that you email clresponse@camc.com so we can investigate this? Please note all reports of sites not following the CL rules are confidential.

I think not for the very reasons Maddie stated.

so the club investigates .... slaps wrists of owner for his misdemeanour .... owner says sod it (or similar) & closes CL .... Tammygirl (& others) loses one of her favoured sites. Or owner makes his CL into a commercial site.

Did anyone win?

A CL that we use has a specific CL field.  A few years back we went & it was obvious one caravan hadn't moved from there in a while but there was still loads of room for the rest of the other 5 units. Across his lane, he had his permanently sited caravans (maybe a dozen) in a different field. And in yet another field he had his 'camping field', but as this one had nicer views he allowed you to use it instead of his CL field. Maybe he was stretching the rules a little 🤷‍♂️ but would we go back? Of course we would. And while everyone is happy why would anyone need to contact the club to ask if any rules were being stretched?

AN Other CL was obviously taking liberties by stating that half the caravans in his 'field/yard' belonged to his daughter's CL .... we just wouldn't go back.

The Club wins by showing that it will take action and that it is not overseeing a free for all to break regulations. Loss of a CL? Collateral damage

+1, I stayed on one(when a member) that had 9 situated in a small woodland, one static had made a garden too😂. It was a beaut place-£18 a day & well worth every penny. I was not inconvenienced. 

It's a dilemma that many of us face, I'm sure. We go to a CL because of many attributes it has to offer, not specifically because it only has five caravans / MHs. Do we shop the owners if we find there are  6 units there if there is plenty of room and thereby risk not being able to go there again because they have closed the CL? I guess the answer is probably not even though we know the owners are breaking the rules. I'd be far more likely to report a CL if there was dangerous electric hook ups or the loo emptying point was in a filthy, dangerous state. (I once stayed at a CL in Dorset. When we asked where we emptied the loo we were told, "just pour it on the muck heap". We left the next day).

With the unprecedented demand for pitches this year can anyone blame a CL owner for stretching the rules a little bit? Land owners can now allow camping on any of their fields for up to 56 days this year. I doubt there is any limit placed on the number of tents / caravan / MHs that they are allowed to accommodate. And some are really ripping off their clients. We saw a campsite near Whitby which appeared to be a very un-level field and with converted shipping containers for the loos. There didn't appear to be any electric available. To stop on this field campers were being charged £25.00 per night  -  and there were a lot of units using the field. Some out of desperation to find somewhere to stay?

I had a situation on my CL last year, If view of your official reply I wonder what you would have advised me to do. Visitor due to leave next day with one arriving  in the afternoon , Visitor is packing up ready to leave in the morning, visitor feels unwell , wife takes him to doctors, and then to an A&E dept, he spends 3 days in hospital.  I had 2 nights with 6 on site, I was happy with that, also took wife to visit husband , should I have insisted she leave , as per the rules, or should I offer to help out in what was a very distressing time for his partner. As an aside all the others on site agreed with my action, and also helped her whilst she was there by herself.

For me it depends on mitigating situation. At least 435 years ago I arrived at a CC site in late afternoon to find that the pitches were not available due to heavy rain damage. No mobiles then to contact arrivals. It was still raining heavily and the warden contacted a nearby CL who put up 3 outfits on his stable yard.  

I certainly wouldn't be critical of the action you took and I think any repercussions would be  very harsh in the circumstances. Anyone else on your CL at the time, assuming they knew the circumstances, are unlikely to complain and hopefully they would have sympathy for your action. However I don't think you could expect the Club to offer advise other than remind you of the rules. As Maddie explains the whole system is at risk if its seen to being misused however well intentioned. It is a case of being best the Club don't know!!!!
