Ukulele players

Whenever I go away with my motorhome, I always pack a ukulele. Needless to say I always play it  reasonably quietly indoors so as not to upset fellow caravaners! But, it would be really nice, if there was the interest, to arrange a weekend meet of members who also love and play this versatile little instrument. Maybe there are a number of peopke who play other instruments and/or sing too, and who who be happy to do a musical weekend? It really is a joyous way to spend a couple of days. Not asking for commitments at the moment but just a hands up as a show of interest, so that I know if it is a “goer” or not. Love to hear from you!!

I think that it is a cracking idea. I would not wish it within earshot personally but that is another story and no slight intended.

Yes thanks ET. I think that 'making music and listening to it' is a lovely thing. All my family are involved in music including playing in The Suffolk Youth Orchestra, a local Orchestral Band, a local Rock Band, playing at school, touring with bands and my two daughters teach it at school (over and above their normal days teaching) so music is an enjoyable part of family life which as the OP suggested could be incorporated into an excellent, social part of CMC activities. It is a shame that some are so narrow minded that can not see any further that their keyboard.

Seacroft sounds great if you can get a booking.

Mrs One is learning to play the Uke.

Yes, thanks Mr. One. As mention in my earlier thread, Seacroft is open all year and they have a lovely little club area and stage which is made for likeminded members and families who enjoy music and socialising. With organisation and planning ahead it could make a different and enjoyable weekend and allow for all levels of ability on this particular instrument.

Totally agree with you brue, it is easy to assume that somebody has no sense of humour just because they disagree with people taking the mick out of a genuine and a social idea. Please don't try and post to me as though I am new to this forum, I am fully aware of the good and bad points on this. I have (in my opinion) a great sense of humour, so please don't make assumptions like that.

I  honestly  think  that  Brue  was  just  warning  you  to  beware  of  reacting  to  my { A B M 's }  attempts  at  humour  embarassed.

The  comment  about  'Stringing'  was    referring  to  the  strings  on  the  uke,  of  course  wink.

No  matter  what  is  said  I'm  sorry  but  the  'jokes'  don't / won't  get  any  better,  I  promise  !!sealed

Yes, great ABM and thanks. As mentioned  in my earlier post, I also have a great sense of humour, enjoy life and enjoy socialising. It is easy on here to make judgements (and incorrect ones) about people without any idea of what they are actually like. Music, both listening to and making it is an excellent pleasure in life as well as a very social thing, its a pity that the Club does not put in place or premote ideas as discussed on this thread.

BS I don't understand your take on this and being so defensive. No one said anything disparaging, just quoting GF songs, a little light humor, Bless em all.laughing

Back on thread, We have been to concerts to see the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain and takes her Uke to play along on 2/3 tunes and likes to do that in the anonymity of the crowd where I think, as a learner,  she wouldn't be too keen in a small group.  My view is that she would probably learn a great deal.  Still I would be at my most persuasive.

A pity see to this thread hijacked by personal insults.

Later you say the club could do more when I had already posted about the club band and singers.

My family like music, with a professional trumpet player (next session at the Dorset Steam fair, main stage....note to ABM) and a part time folk violinist, they give me a frequent insight into a lot of musical enjoyment.

I can only think you wanted to disrupt the thread more than the cheeky humorous replies ever did.

I do hope the OP hasn't been put off, the idea of a Ukulele players group is a fun idea, hope this thread can continue in a friendly manner.

It would need to be a meeting with like minds in a quiet secluded area, loud Music has been complained about regularly on here. Nothing would dampen your meet more than complaints🙁

Sounds to me like a good activity for a rally with a local hall available.
