VW Emission software fix

I am have serious reservations in allowing the software  change to improve emissions  to be applied to my  TDI DSG Tiguan, I have read so many bad reports of a serious flat spot at 1500/2000 rpm , which when towing is going to cause problems pulling from junctions etc

My question is, simple . Has anyone committed to having this “upgrade” carried out , and have there been any members having had this upgrade carried out on their VAG cars find performance compromised

There are lots of reports in various VW enthusiast forums of the software fix causing a big reduction in performance. The consensus being... don't do it if you can avoid it. The trouble is, cars under warranty that are being serviced in dealerships are having the fix forced upon them. Do a search in mytiguan.com, volkswagonforum.co.uk, volkszone.com etc and you will find lots of disgruntled owners

Ah, having just read the Honest John section I don't think I will bother with mine. I had been booked in last week however due to work I was unable to go, maybe had a lucky escape albeit few reports relate to Passats. I have printed off the HJ column and also asked for experience from Passat B7 users on the UKPassat forum before asking what my dealer has to say....

As requested, a reply from someone who has had his Tig 'fixed.  I had my Tig 'fixed' in August then went on a 4000 mile caravan tour on the continent.  There was no difference in performance either mpg or power nor any flatspots.  I have to say that if I had not taken it to the dealers myself and waited I would not have know it had been done.

Most of the problems appear to be with 140TDi DSG equipped vehicles although some Golf/Passat/Polo owners are reporting issues too. Mine is the 2014 177 engine (with DSG) for which I cannot find anyone reporting a problem.

I had my 140PS 2.0tdi BMT Passat done about 6 months ago, just before a 3K round trip of France, plus numerous trips in the UK. Can't say that I have noticed any difference when towing or solo in either performance or economy.

There are pages and pages of reports , mostly negative , on “Honest John “ web site , mentioned this to the dealer , not surprising he denied all knowledge of any problems , I will be printing off a few pages to help his memory loss

Do not despair. The aftermarket tuning specialists will be on to this already and you will soon be able to have it "unfixed" at least, if not much improved over the original.

Funnily enough i had mine done and same engine as yours just before heading off to Italy with the van and no problems reported.
