2030 - No new ICE cars to be sold

What is the Club's position on this announcement?

It sounds the death knell for towing anything like a decent size caravan unless reasonably priced electric cars capable of towing over 200 miles without recharge suddenly appear, and the recharging infrastructure expands rapidly. Given the incompetence of most politicians that is unlikely to happen.

Or do we think this is just another of Bojo's announcements that will quietly be forgotten when it becomes clear that there is no chance of this happening by 2030?

Perhaps the Club could enlighten us on whether it is engaging with the Government, as it is abundantly clear that no thought has been given to this issue by the Politicos.

I cant understand what you are worrying about, Boris and his side kick  are looking into toll road charges plus all the clean air zones, we will all have to catch a bus.

or pay by the mile, i see one motoring correspondent has staked his reputation on this being brought in sooner than later undecided but as stated in a previous post, bring it on, dont do many miles in the UK and over there particularly in France you pay a heavy toll for use of most motorways, so little change there, Spain have just scrapped all their toll roads. laughing

We don't mind cutting folks some slack but this thread has gone totally off topic.

Can we please stick to the discussion topic.

Thanks.

I was surprised how many charging points we saw in Shetland last year. I don't recall seeing any lekky cars though and the most popular vehicles seemed to be pick ups of the Navara/D-Max ilk.🤷‍♂️

I have seen similar to  those figures in another publication ,but,a less biased view ,when many in London have been installed ,as in our area ,by companies for their own employees use and company vehicles or as part of a "sales pitch" for new build and conversions for residential use i there is of course also grants from th Gov to LAs to install points as there is for home owners
