Come on members, not read any discussions on this new model yet. We need to know how you are getting on with them?

We purchased a Bradcot Air Awning for our new Swift caravan. We found it took as long, if not longer, to put up than our old Inaca full awning, the caravan door catches against the air beams or the roof canvas unless it is perfectly positioned and the air beams seem too long causing distortion of the panels. When erected as a full awning with its extensions, the awning does not fit the caravan satisfactorily.

Two of the ladder connectors have snapped. Finally, the awning burst while we were abroad and it could not be repaired until we returned to the UK. We had to purchase a sunshade to continue our holiday.

We are unhappy and have expressed our wish in writing to return the goods for a full refund. The retailer has exercised their right to have the awning repaired under warranty instead. I would advise anyone against purchasing this item.

To continue the tale - Bradcot repaired and returned the awning. The second time we used it after repair, it developed what seemed to be a slow puncture, deflating in an hour or so. Yet again, a trip away has been spoiled by losing the extra space to entertain family and friends that Bradcot give in their brochure as a primary reason for purchase. Not to mention all the hassle associated with having to pack it away and find space for all of the items normally set out in the awning. And the dealer still insists that they will not be giving me a refund.

It’s nice but not nice to know that other campers are having problems with Bradcot porch awning ,I bought mine in June 2016 used it about 5,6 times ,each time it’s been a nightmare getting the sides flush with my van ,I’ve followed the original instructions and the most up to date ones ,still no joy ,even taking special care with making sure the footprint is square to the van and that the two nearest corners are slightly under the van and the Velcro fixed as per instructions, but the Velcro is always coming apart and I have to keep trying to reattach, and that’s very hard to do with it all inflated ,so you have to slightly deflate ,my last two outings my awning has looked terrible ,the main beams are bellowing out side ways and it looks a total mess ,I’ve deflated repegged each time I have used it and still very disappointed and if I can part exchange for a different make as mentioned previously, this is what I will do if I don’t get any satisfaction on my next venture

Hi navarac,

Have you contacted us directly about this issue?

We rarely repair the inflation system within the awning opting to replace the entire system within is preferable. Slow leaks could emanate from a number of places and can take ages to locate from exactly where. As such replacement is the most cost effective and less time consuming for the customer method. Once a system is replaced we then test the unit for a minimum of 24 hours, more often than not for 48 hours.

Upon first use after replacement you can experience what would appear to be a small loss of air which is simply the bladder within filling out its carrier just as it would from new.

If the problem persists please get in touch with us directly. We will keep the selling dealer in touch with events so as not to breach your consumer rights.

Hi Nogger1,

If the Velcro at the top of the packer (the foam pads at each side next to the caravan) is coming apart you are missing a crucial point within the instructions.

The back pole is contained within a pocket at the top of the packer and the foot of that pole is to be located into a pegging ladder at the bottom of the side panel. You will note that there are two pegging ladder fixing clips at the bottom back corners fitted within the same piece of black webbing, one is for the foot of the pole to attach to the other is for pegging to the ground.

This ensures that there is little or no strain applied to the Velcro at the top, the strain exerted by the pole under tension being taken by the pegging ladder and the pocket. The Velcro is fitted only to eliminate draughts, it is a touch and close fastener only.

I attach a photo showing the method which should help?

I have pegged exactly as you have shown in you photo ,and still not happy with the fit ,I would also like to know , in the instructions it states that when pegging under the van ,make sure you use the same ladder run on the rest of the pegging around the awning , I cannot se this been practical if it’s an uneven pitch as I was on in Whitby ,

Done waste your time, the beams are too long and you will never get a decent fit. Trade it in for a Kampa πŸ‘
