Motorhome waste point

Just back from Stonehaven club site. Excellent site all round and very well maintained by the wardens 👍.

While at the above site on the day of departure I noticed 2 motorhomes drive over the motorhome waste point and started to empty there waste water with the drain cover still closed. When I empty my waste water at the drain I lift off the drain cover to let the water go straight into the drain then replace the drain cover when finished.

What is the correct procedure when there is no grid and it’s a wast point with a cover over it?

I also had a polite word with a gentleman whom had lifted the waste point drain cover and emptied his toilet waste down the waste drain 🤔.

surely just a bund around the drain would be sufficient ... it could even double up as a speed bump .... but the drain would have to be lower than the road 🙄

If you can park clear of the trap, like this one at Warwick, it's not too difficult to drag the lid off sideways by hooking the end of my peg pulling out hammer under it. Therefore no lifting involved. However, here the road is wide and I wasn't in anyone's way. It wouldn't have been as easy if my waste pipe was on the other side though, as there is only the one trap and it would have been necessary to go the wrong way. Not the best of designs. I don't think you are supposed to try lifting  any of those other lids, they look really heavy.☚ī¸

Probably not likely to changed, unless the jockey club is feeling generous.😀

Even if I was inclined to attempt to remove a cover the setup you show means grovelling around fitting a pipe in a dirty environment.  The dump valve in my van is inside.  I expect to be able to park on or over, an accessible, well designed and constructed drain, simply open the valve and drive away once empty.

I agree that would be ideal. Our valve is also inside. However, the pipe slots on easily and hands are washable. Whatever system is provided for grey waste the toilet cassette still needs emptying. I am reasonably happy if I have room to work / park in a sensible manner in relation to the trap.

I also have a longish extension pipe which is used when we are on a serviced pitch (not CCwink) or wish to run the waste directly into (say) a hedge at a CL or THS.

I also have a short extra pipe for the odd awkward grey waste trap.

however, like both of you, we have an inside dump valve and much perfer just driving over, pulling the lever and then driving away....

we can dream, lol....wink

Last night was on a free council-run(?) aire with a "proper grey waste grid". Given the prices charged by CAMC, the least we can expect are proper facilities.
