Insurance Renewal - No Free Night Site Vouchers

I MichaelT....I can see what you mean...the last time I got a voucher was 3 years ago when I bought a korando..even just the once I suppose I could have used it but living on the east coast adding the cost of travel to a club site and the high cost of club sites it wasn't worth it for a one off...I can go to some rallies for a third of the price and meet some great people....I would like to go to club sites but the cost is to high...it's a shame really but there it is ..

 

 

Write your comments here...Well thats the good thing about the club there are options for all tastes and budgets.  But in your neck of the woods you have a great chocie not only of club sites(4 around Scarborough area)  but commercial sites as well, unless of course you are looking for a concession as yo have disabled people in your party and using cost as an excuse?

MichaelT....you make assumptions without facts..Scarborough is some distance away for us to travel...until recently we have not had a local club site that we could have found suitable...and as for the cynical comment about using the disabled label...I and no doubt others would take that as offensive to say the least...I was only pointing out that some sites are far to expensive to people who would have used them....that said I don't intend to take part in such posts again with you...I shall now leave this group in the hope that one day it may improve.....

Write your comments here...I indeed made assumptions about Scarborough area as your location says E Yorkshire so thought that would be a general area for club sites which I was obvously worng.  I did not intend to offend but I felt you inferred the cost because of having disabled people in your group rather than just syaing you had 4 adults.

I have also not had any vouchers...mind you when I do get them I give them away as we don't use the club sites as the pricing structure does not work for us..we have two sons who are disabled adults so we have to pay so much for 4 adults and van we have to go on rallies or cls pity it's not per van per pitch...or a nominal amount for extra adults..it's a bit much to have to pay 10 pounds or more a night.....any thoughts on this...

 

 

The other club and most commercial sites charge on the same basis and except for rallies £10 is simply not realistic these days if operators are going to cover their costs. Four adults does make caravanning expensive and frankly the additional adults do not cost sites a lot more than the two most site rates start at. Not sure there is a sensible answer yo your problem but in winter you might get in on an odd site or two at that rate.

I cannot see what was offensive in MichaelT's comment and indeed the comments about the east coast is probably, because you said you live on the east coast!

I think what Tigerman was pointing out was the cost of caring for disabled others.  Is it right for a carer (And I'm talking the principle here, not anyone in particular) to have to pay full price for someone who is perhaps significantly disabled?

Personally I don't think that we do enough in such circumstances.  I'm not talking about just blue badges here, I mean proper carers, - people who are engaged in looking after others who otherwise might not be able to enjoy a few days away on site.

I realise that by pointing that factor out that I might be straying off the Insurance renewal thread, so for that I apologise.

Write your comments here...but the principle is ability to pay not caring for disabled or infirm relatives.  Just because you are a carer or indeed disabled does not equate to being poor as you suggest so why should they get a discount they could be millionaires? 

Also from the sites point of view they have to supply more equipment etc for disabled customers so thus also has to be paid for.

Then there is the actual disability itself we all subconsciously think of a disabled person being in a wheelchair but it can be anything from heart problems,  unable to walk any distance to being blind etc. so does not mean the person cannot use all the facilities available and in fact could use more.

So no they should not get a discount like blue badge holders don't get free parking but obviously get parking spaces close to the amenities,  shops etc.

Who said anything about wealth or relatives?  There are many caring people who do put themselves out to ensure that other less mobile people, or even those unable to care for themselves, get out of their otherwise restrictive surroundings for a bit of a break.  My question was should that carer be expected to pay full price for their public spirited actions?  You appear to be saying yes!  If so I will leave it with you. We are well off thread now.

Write your comments here...I am not in I'm allright jack camp but your post suggested a discount for disabled people and i say no but if a holiday company wants to do that then fine. however for a registered carer I think they do get either a discount or free entry to many places such as swimming pools  etc. Weather that should be extended to camp sites or other holiday accommodation I do not have an opinion on but I guess in a caring sharing society yes but who is going to foot the bill the holiday supplier or social services I. e the taxpayer?
