A simple question. As the caravan club no longer offer caravan insurance as such what suggestions for a new insurer that does.

So why the scare mongering. For all you know the caravan club cover could be better than  caravan insurance when it comes to a claim.

No scare mongering. I started the thread because I don't want unregulated cover due to personal experience and asked for alternatives. I simply explained the reasons.

They will be regulated by the FCA however as I see it the FCA are there to regulate conduct based on the contract with a company and I would not have as great a confidence if I had entered a contract with an insurance provider who stated that all payment was at their discretion.

The Insurance Ombudsman would be my port of call for an insurance dispute but with CC 'cover' this will not apply as they are not regulated by that body.

Just one example

One example of what? Are they my words?

If so they give the reasons why I asked for alternatives

I am totally unable to see any validity to your earlier comment Dave. I explained why I want a regulated insurance, If you prefer unregulated then go right ahead

Have you heard of CC not paying  out.  Do you not think that if they start not paying they will lose lots of custom as word will soon get round.

Who regulates the regulator. In my experience they are usually toothless.

A daft question really. Have the club failed to pay out on a legit claim - no idea, have you?

Have the club underpaid on a claim? No idea. Have you?

What I do know is that every year the Financial Ombudsman rules that insurance companies should have paid out or paid more. Why would I, or you, assume that the same problems would not arise with club cover?

The difference with an insurance is that the Financial  Ombudsman Service has an oversight and can intervene if called on. Is that too hard to comprehend Dave?

The Ombudsman is far from Toothless. What is your experience Dave? Do you have any or are you just flapping your gums, so to speak? I have read numerous case histories over the last 10 years where they have insisted that a company pay out and have powers to back it up.
