A simple question. As the caravan club no longer offer caravan insurance as such what suggestions for a new insurer that does.

I suggest that anyone who wants to can read all the details about Caravan Cover by clicking on the link on the tool bar at the top of this web site page. This  provides further links to in depth information and FAQs plus PDFs which state the levels of cover provided under "cover" and "supercover" on the cover policies.

I would further suggest that any further understanding which may be needed should be directed to the appropriate CAMC sources.

There is a difference between quoting past statements and the more up to date details provided by the club on the web site. smile

Which has been as carefully worded as possible - unlike earlier statements Brue

Is the general consensus that we would be better off to find a proper regulated insurance company rather than use the club for caravan insurance.

I will be staying with the club. You can bet your bottom dollar if the club brings out anything new we will have months & months of wrangling on CT as to the merits and demerits of the product, to name one is the fuel card, oh how people wailed re giving up your credit card details and how the club was leaving you open to fraud/scams, went on for months, has anybody been scammed or ripped off?, i think not, and now the fuel card is probably in thousands of members wallets and saying thank you for the saving. undecided. If anybody thinks the club is going to leave anybody high and dry when it comes to a claim etc, think again, yes somebody will be able to point to a dispute that leads to a claim going to the ombudsman, but this body only sanctions 37 pct of claims, and for some is takes months and months to settle, if you should have a claim against the club going forward and they refuse to pay but you think your claim is rock solid you can always take legal action, yes expensive but if you win then there is a very high probability that the court will award you costs, that is if it ever gets that far.

How novel a post that actually makes sense without a skewed agenda or downright scaremongering. Thanks Rufs you’ve made my day👍🏻😊

Yes the club offer a good product. However having had to take legal action against an insurance company I can tell you that involves a long delay also. Solicitors don't come cheap. I wish there had been an Ombudsman then! The fact that 37% of claims are approved only shows how daft some of claims submitted are! Example in short: I have a twin axle caravan involving the restriction that I fit two wheel locks. I only fitted one now insurance won't pay out.

Not scaremongering but the facts if what the club has stated on here over the last 18 months or so is correct. That is shown in a slightly earlier post of mine.

as i said

yes somebody will be able to point to a dispute

i must lead a very boring life as i have to admit have never been involved in such a dispute, have only ever had a couple of claims in 50 odd years of motoring and maybe 20 years of caravaning and both were rock solid claims so the insurance company paid up as i am sure the club would do.

I can assure you that I do not have a 'skewed' agenda'. I have happily used the club insurance for over 40 years. What I do have is experience of an insurance dispute and the best part of 9 months using the legal route to get a justified settlement amount. The only other insurance dispute was eventually resolved to my satisfaction in a little over 2 weeks.

I was always pleased with CC's insurance. And as you probably aware, I am not one to generally decry the club as I have always been well satisfied with them over many years
