A simple question. As the caravan club no longer offer caravan insurance as such what suggestions for a new insurer that does.

Caravan cover top questions on club page

What's the difference between Caravan Cover from the Caravan and Motorhome Club and caravan insurance?

As we are a membership organisation, and caravan cover is not a legal requirement, we have been able to establish a product just for our members where all aspects of cover are dealt with by the Club.

For example, if you make a claim you would be dealing with the Club rather than a third party organisation.

We provide Caravan Cover on a discretionary basis which means our Board has full discretion over whether to agree to pay claims and the amounts to be paid. They may also agree to pay claims outside the terms and conditions of the cover if they feel the circumstances justify it. It is not a contract of insurance.

Despite it being on a web page I would expect the same statement in telephone dealing. Surfer says that it isn;t. Most strange

Over the years only two problems with insurance. One with Direct Line 25 years ago that was amicably resolved and one 30 years ago where I started court proceedings. No intention of having problems with unregulated CC cover

Well despite all this talk the main proof is in the pudding, are the CAMC still paying out OK on claims since the change?

I haven't seen many if any posts here stating they aren't paying, are the repairers having problems getting paid for the repairs? Anyone seen evidence they aren't?

I do know a certain genuine insurance company dealing with horses and cows who definitely don't pay out!

So how do you know that there will be problems with caravan cover

Posted on 10/11/2019 21:24

I don't and do not think that there will be. But I have had disagreements twice with insurance companies and do prefer a regulated company

No idea - have you? Bottom line for me is if I have a dispute my only recourse is legal rather than Ombudsman

So why the scare mongering. For all you know the caravan club cover could be better than  caravan insurance when it comes to a claim.
