What changes would you make ?

If you could, what five changes would you make to the clubs rules, procedures, systems etc.

Mine would be

1) book 12 months ahead on a rolling basis

2) be able to book late checkout

3) pitch anyway on your pitch, nose in, sideways etc

4) never have all toilet blocks closed at same time for cleaning

5) more full service pitches

no moaning about rules are rules, you signed up etc, I just wondered if there were any common

threads.

I'd put money on it that price differentials will be introduced for 2019 for not only awning and none awning but also for grass and hard standings.

Personally I would have no objection to that providing the differentials were within reason. We currently know how much a service pitch costs extra, it's just a case of coming up with a fair price structure for the other types of pitches. If all awning hardstandings went up by £1 it is possible they would still be making more money if they reduced the price of non awning and grass pitches by £2. I suspect they might be mindful of what the other Club charges in terms of an additional fee for a hardstanding?

Hence my post. A recent site we were on, there were loads of single smaller motorhomers plonked in the middle of a huge pitch leaving me a choice of very few pitches that I could even think about getting our outfit on. Loads of blue pegs with sod all on them.

That is one of the "problems" that some seem to find with the booking system, as on sites with and without awning pitches, when opening the bookings page, the first to appear is awning pitches and if there is space then it is just booked , you need to scroll down for the the non awning pitches ,also as some have posted the site they wanted was "full" and they did not realise that non awning and othe pitches are available by scrolling down

We don't have an awning as such, but we do have a tiny pop up tent to put chairs & bbq in during  the summer months and we sometimes use our roll out canopy in the afternoons so we have to book a white peg as we cant even put a tiny pop up on a non awning blue pitch.

Are you sure? as it can be   behind your camper van,as with a wind out canapy can also go on a non awning pitch as long as no sides are fitted wink

When I enquired, and I can't remember now exactly where it was, I received a no in response. Everything must be on the HS no pop ups and no canopies out on non awning pitches.... Its that elf and safe tea business.

Infact he was most indignant, and we moved to a white peg pitch so I could put the pop up in the corner.

That approach does not seem to be implemented elsewhere as there are often items of furniture, bicycles, barbecues, satelite dishes, washing whirly-gigs, and goodness knows what else strewn about on both awning and non-awning pitches, not to mention Aqua-rolls, Wastemasters and gas cylinders!!

I would like the club to build the next site without a toilet block, thus saving millions on construction and on going service costs. I would like the pitches to be all weather and winterised fully serviced, but with some grass available with or without electric.

I think the considerable savings should be passed on to members.

If after a fair trial no one wants to use it there is also the option to build the shower block, however I think the lower costs that can be achieved will attract members without it.

It would attract me as I like non facility sites when touring. Price is not a factor for me.

canopy can also go on a non awning pitch as long as no sides are fitted

Whether sides are fitted or not the same clearance requirements prevail JVB

If after a fair trial no one wants to use it

That could happen, but be nothing to do with the facilities.  It is location and outlook that draws me.
