Should the Club put it's foot down?

It's good that over the last few years the Club has been moving towards being more aware of the needs of our planet and the care of it's environment. Certainly sites like Poolsbrook with eco aware facilities are to be aplauded. The Club rightly should encourage, even expect, it's members to play their part in cutting energy consumption, and think beyond "just me".

Is it then time for the Club to introduce a TOTAL ban on awning heaters on thie sites? No doubt some members will see this as an infringement of their rights. That right being, in this case, to completely ignore the consequences of using energy in what is basically an outdoor space.

And the rest of us can just shut up, stop whinge-ing on, and pay for their electricity wastage in our site fees.

At least some CL owners are aware of this, and have moved to banning awning heaters on their sites.

some site do have an employee hook and unhook you from the bollard, if its sneaky lekky pinching that needs monitoring, although ive never seen anyone trying it on..

but just like settling the bill, the call to the office will get you your own personal pitch butler to unhook you at your convenience.

never been an issue in causing any sort of delay, either with connecting or disconnecting...

the systems and processes (and staffing levels) are just geared up to be able to cope with high numbers of customers coming and going at any time of the day..

not having the bow-wave of an 'arrival time' probably helps.

At Turiscampo with a bit of luck the "pitch butler" would run you back up to your pitch in the golf buggy when he needed to come and reset the trip (always my faultsurprised)smile

Not now David. All the electrics have been replaced.  All have euro sockets and you plug yourself in to the unlimited 10 amp supply.  However, I believe that power over a certain limit will be charged for once the refurb is completed.

Probably not as much as Cayton Village and its refurbishment or the rebranding.

And that refurb after the cost of purchasing the site as with Binham Grange so to run and fit several thousand meters plus the smart card set up costs will be a "bit" more than those two sites

Not been since 2017 seemed then as though a lot of change was afoot and not all for the better.

There have definitely been some changes that are not to my taste but overall I think they have improved the site.

But I'd rather the club's money spent on an extra site, isn't that better than spending money on installing meters that cannot be recouped ever?

I agree totally, that’s why I said it’s how staff resources are utilised. I would trial one person doing loos and leave one in office, but it all depends. Two hitting Ladies and Gents would half the time they are closed, which might be of more value to some Club members?

If it was me, I would switch to doing blocks in afternoon (after an initial check round first thing in morning to stock loo rolls and soap). Less folks on site, could get away with one person spending longer cleaning, leave other in office. Swop over to do other side. Not just loos to clean of course, Wardens keep many other areas clean and tidy. However, it might be that policy is to do outdoor work at certain times as well, such as grass cutting, other maintenance, I don’t know.

Folks leave at all hours of the day, paying on leaving means staffing the office accordingly, unless payment can be done electronically. Both have cost implications.

There are even more sofisticated systems PD.  For example one we used in Germany a few years back and i have seen other elsewhere.

  1. Insert CC.
  2. Choose how much credit you want on the services access card.
  3. System places a pending payment on CC [say £100].
  4. System issues services access card with £100 credit.
  5. You use services access card as you want.
  6. On departure insert services access card in machine request refund of unused credit.
  7. Card is retained and CC pending payment is adjusted to actual amount and CC is charged.
  8. Receipt is issued.

The whole billing system is similar to using a automated fuel pump.  Simples.

Dont know how Foreign sites operate, and have no desire to find out, dont have an awning to keep warm. And am perfectly happy with the clubs present set up for electricty. Also we are not extinction rebellion activists so if i ever do get an awning i might or might not heat it...my choice.
