Not very family friendly club

We have been members for a number of years as is our son and his family. They live in Stockton on Tees and store their van at Whitewater Park which is only a few minutes from their home. As we live in Lincolnshire we often use Whitewater for family get togethers. Whitewater is a beautiful site with friendly and helpful wardens but......

When we visit we like to pitch together so that our grandchildren can move freely between their parents unit and our own.  Sadly club rules make this a difficult exercise when the site is busy (as it usually is!) Not being allowed to book or reserve a particular pitch means that we have to try and arrange taking one van out of storage and arriving from Lincolnshire at exactly the same time. Not easy. So please please can the club look at having some arrangement whereby families who want to pitch together can be accommodated?

There was a group with "reserved"pitches  (all  hardstandings)on this site over the w/endsurprised

Didnt think that was allowed ?  I have seen Wardens reserve spots near the loo's for disabled people, and that is fair enough, but I have also seen Caravanners park their car on an ajacent pitch (to reserve it) for friends who arrived a couple of hours later. That wouldnt work with me, because if we fancied that pitch, the 'motorist' would be asked to move, whilst my missus went for the gate fob to tell the Warden we had that pitch. Dislike people who try to cheat the system.

If you read later posts it was for a rally wink

The site staff did say that there is a growing amount of "members" who will put a request in to be near the toilets and admit are not disabled but do not want walk far to the toiletsyell

I never put a request in but try to pitch within 100yds of the shower so as not to need to take a walking stick.

Good for you, Ray! Although I'm not particularly fussy about particular pitches on club sites that sort of cheating the system does wrankle with me. I remember particularly one occasion at Cirencester Park when a motorhome pulled up opposite us (could just as easily have been a  caravan by the way before anyone gets all angsty wink) and the first thing they did, before any setting up themselves was to put table, chairs and a "MH using this pitch" sign on the neighbouring pitch! frown

That is really sneaky, using the 'Motorhome using this pitch' sign to reserve a pitch for a friend.

That sign is the only means we Motorhomers have to keep our pitches for us, whilst offsite. Its misuse is dangerous and should not happen.

In the end the Warden knows if a pitch is in use or not. If you are in doubt ask.

It can get totally out of hand - it is easy to imaging a motor caravan driving around a site dumping a sign on one pitch, a table and chairs on another, a power cable and some other loose clobber on a third, and so on, until they decide which of their "reserved" pitches to actually occupy.
