Not very family friendly club

We have been members for a number of years as is our son and his family. They live in Stockton on Tees and store their van at Whitewater Park which is only a few minutes from their home. As we live in Lincolnshire we often use Whitewater for family get togethers. Whitewater is a beautiful site with friendly and helpful wardens but......

When we visit we like to pitch together so that our grandchildren can move freely between their parents unit and our own.  Sadly club rules make this a difficult exercise when the site is busy (as it usually is!) Not being allowed to book or reserve a particular pitch means that we have to try and arrange taking one van out of storage and arriving from Lincolnshire at exactly the same time. Not easy. So please please can the club look at having some arrangement whereby families who want to pitch together can be accommodated?

Thankfully it's tip up and choose from what's available. Everyone has that equal chance then, nothing preferential and certainly no accusations of favouritism. If turning up at that earliest arrival time then generally there shouldn't be a problem in my experience, you just choose what suits your needs best from those pitches that are vacant. To me that's the friendliest and fairest way to do it.

We sometimes meet friends on a site and travel from different directions.  Either we are lucky and manage to get 2 adjacent pitches, or we're not, and pitch away from each other.  No big deal for us and it certainly wouldn't enter my head that the club should think about changing the "first come, first served" rule.  If it's that important to be next to each other, then perhaps a bit of initiative is needed, whereby a meeting point is arranged near the site, so enabling to arrive together.

I see nothing wrong with the principle of "First Come first Served". It's the fairest method of allocating pitches.

If people want a chance to get pitches close together it's a simple matter to keeping in touch by phone while travelling and arrange to arrive at the site at the same time.  -----  It's quite straightforward...smile

If you are a friend of the Warder, ask him/her to keep the best two pitches on the site for you. wink  But that would be denying others and that wouldn't be fair. frown

-----OR -----

Do as is often advised on here.------- Go  Elsewhere.

Arriving together will only work if there is actually a pair of pitches available.

If there isn’t, then nothing's lost but the chances of success were increased.

I appreciate the system but I can also remember being on one of two pitches that were pigs in the middle of two groups of a family that would have been better together.  The kids young and old, the parents and g/parents seemed to think it was okay to walk straight across our pitch and the one besides us.  Complaints to the family, and complaints to the wardens did not help and in the end we were forced to move.

Agreed, but the chance of pitching together would be better, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I have certainly seen your item 2 K, but it is difficult to prove but fairly obvious when it happens wink.  I also agree with and practice your item 3 smile.

Nothing wrong with the way the club has decided to allocate pitches but the other club is more accommodating and allows groups to be together, you pays yer money and you takes yer choice. wink
