Is it a rip off?

Hi I have a rant to get off my chest

Just booked a site for 21 nights for an eye watering £540!   After I got back on my feet I was informed that Caravan and Motor home club have increased their Easter fees this week two weeks early.  Why I ask. even the management were embarrassed and thought it were shocking.

I spent 5 nights last week on a fabulous caravan and camping club site in heart of Northumberland with all the facilities and with over 60s discount £8 pn!

After only just re-joining I cannot  see the benefits of staying with  C&M club prices are beyond out reach.

"...a pitch, probably EHU, probably loo/shower.....this is the club basic template..."

And exactly what the many thousands who use them as a base each year are looking for. Those who want a "holiday camp" atmosphere will obviously seek out alternatives. But like many others we do not want a pool, bar/restaurant on site - we prefer to explore out and about in whichever area we are staying.

We do not tour high season , so despite having used some sites that have pools, bars, shop etc, the sites were still quiet.

We do not need pools, bars or shops on a site, but the presence of them does not affect our choice of site, after all, we are not forced to use them!

For us, the site is a base to return to each evening after exploring the area, and we shop when necessary while we are out.

I would think that for those who winter in warmer places, booking onto a site for several weeks, on- site facilities would be more important, but as we usually move on every 4-5 days our requirements are minimal.

Sorry to interrupt this conversation, information for Kjell. I will start a new thread in CL section Kjell, with some links to decent sites we used in Wales.

Right gentlemen, are you ready........and resume.........😂

I wouldn't know I don't go anywhere at peak times -  too many people and inflated prices.

Just a rough guess but maybe it was Devon & Cornwall?🤔

Hi guys,

I too am concerned at the cost of booking club sites.

I have just joined the club after viewing costs per night on the club website.I was shocked at the astronomical cost per night when you actually try to book somewhere. I feel as though I have been conned. I have tried to contact the club by e-mail but the website links don't seem to work. Any ideas.

so you mean you looked at the 'from' price' at the top of the site's web page rather than the price in for example August and costed it out for however many in your party?

If so you may have a point and that aspect has been covered in another thread.

As to contacting the club, there are contact details here:

https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/contact/

which includes telephone and email. I have just tried the membership email link (memberenquiries@camc.com) and it appears to work?

I do not understand your post as the costs do not alter from viewing to when you book

We went around the Broadway site to see:

a) how it has changed since the last time we stayed there. (25 years ago)

b) Would we like to stay there again on a BH weekend at £31+ night

Answers a) a lot ........  b) No

Also it was the week before Easter and we were on our way back from Devon and Cornwall but, as the weather was forecast to be so good, we stayed in the Cotswolds ( on a CL @£15/night)

You joined after viewing costs per night? You just looked at the "from" price and assumed that's what you'd pay? No further research? Might I ask if you are completely new to caravanning or if you have used other sites and now decided to give club sites a try? If so it'd be constructive to now which sites you're comparing the club's "astronomical" prices to. undecided

following on it does say on that from price:

Price based on:
Caravan Club member
Pitch + 1 adult

From your name (J&L) it appears that there are two of you?
