Is it a rip off?

Hi I have a rant to get off my chest

Just booked a site for 21 nights for an eye watering £540!   After I got back on my feet I was informed that Caravan and Motor home club have increased their Easter fees this week two weeks early.  Why I ask. even the management were embarrassed and thought it were shocking.

I spent 5 nights last week on a fabulous caravan and camping club site in heart of Northumberland with all the facilities and with over 60s discount £8 pn!

After only just re-joining I cannot  see the benefits of staying with  C&M club prices are beyond out reach.

it's interesting Steve that we tour extensively in Europe which obviously costs a reasonable amount in total, yet the 'value' we get from the whole experience (sites, journey, locations, food, weather etc, etc) feels so high that paying £25+ at a club site really does feel poor vfm.

'priced out', perhaps....certainly enough to make us baulk at some of the  prices.

we are currently away but CL-ing atm for £14.

we recoup all of our ferry costs in the time we are away with sites that are cheaper (but often of a totally different (better) standard) than club sites.

fuel costs are little different to someone touring Scotland from the south or the West Country from the north.

No doubt I did miss it BB.

However Swiss Farm offers nothing that I would want

as I said earlier....the std Alan reply of 'it doesn't affect me'...

but we are talking about vfm and the club providing basic facilities for medianundecided prices.

my example just shows the difference (for a similar price) that some providers can produce, and as has been said in this thread, club prices keep rising, the offering doesn't change, and the 'price' threads keep coming.

and sadly there it is again, sites over there are betterundecided

And we should all just accept that fact and learn from itundecided

what hubris.

Not even a shorter walk to the town?

No BB you were talking about that.

I and some others were talking about sites with a similar provision to CC sites. I have considered and discounted Swiss Farm in the past, not because 'it does not effect me' (to use your words rather than mine) but because it does not match my requirements and is probably great if that is your wants but not for me thanks.

That's at least the second time you've used that expression BB (yes - you repeating yourself!). Perhaps you might explain your use of the word "basic"? undecided

Probably no pool, no bar/restraunt or drinks patio. Maybe not a fully stocked shop/mini market

Sounds just the job for us! smile

When we're away we like to get out and about and use local shops and pubs/restaurants - just the way. apparently, that many folk do "over there". I wonder what makes "over here" so different for them? undecided
