Is it a rip off?

Hi I have a rant to get off my chest

Just booked a site for 21 nights for an eye watering £540!   After I got back on my feet I was informed that Caravan and Motor home club have increased their Easter fees this week two weeks early.  Why I ask. even the management were embarrassed and thought it were shocking.

I spent 5 nights last week on a fabulous caravan and camping club site in heart of Northumberland with all the facilities and with over 60s discount £8 pn!

After only just re-joining I cannot  see the benefits of staying with  C&M club prices are beyond out reach.

We used the CCC Cambridge site a couple of years back, and very nice it was too.

Preferable, IMO , to Cherry Hinton , which we used many years back

we visited Cambridge about three years ago and chose the CCC site. one day while put on the bikes, we passed Cherry Hintin and had a look.

to us it was one of the darkest, dampest, scruffiness, dingiest sites we've ever seen and were so glad we were at the (then) newly developed area of the CCC site.

I'm sure that's true EasyT, but I'd like to see a few more benefits and improvements if it's costing me more. smile

The wine box that we have been buying at Tesco for ages, went up in price again the other day. I can't say I have noticed any difference in the quality.

It is unfortunately a fact of life, costs such as wages, fuel, utilities etc go up and the prices we pay follow.☹️

Wine is wine Steve, but some of the facilities on sites are in need of an upgrade so things could be improved a bit more I think? wink

Yup, I think it’s called the cost of living SL, to some it’s obviously a new irritating phenomenon🤷🏻‍♂️😊

compared to the sites that Kjell, and many others regularly use 'elsewhere' club sites are bereft of such things like pools, bars. restaurants, cafes, sports facilities etc and these sites are available for €16-20 a night for around 80% of the season.

Its obvious that some folk see this sort of site (see Castells or Yelloh!) offering a lot more at a really affordable price.

Unfortunately for those wanting such facilities (I don't) they are not similarly priced within the UK.

I'm reliably informed that club sites are in the median price range so perhaps a better way of describing where the club sits re VFM might be 'CC offers basic facilities at median prices?

The club offers what you may consider basic but is in fact of a standard with the range of facilities that many seek. A similar formula to many sites by other providers within a similar price range.

alan, you must have missed my comparison between Henley Four Oaks and Swiss Farm?

a few hundred yards apart and when we were there SF just about identical in price, much nicer pitches, water supply on the pitch, a bar, restauant, nice patio for drinks, very large walking area (dogs or guests) and a terrific pool.

so, it certainly can be done in the uk at club prices.

HFO, while nice, is a traditional basic club site by any standards...

I think you will find it has been refurbished in recent times, I still haven't stayed there, like others, I prefer the C&CC site for a number of reasons.

indeed but then don't say you cannot afford something, that means something completely  different. Saving £800+ in fuel will buy you lots of club site nights.

You can so certainly afford club sites, you just choose (rightly) to spend the money elsewhere

No doubt I did miss it BB.

However Swiss Farm offers nothing that I would want
