Is it a rip off?

Hi I have a rant to get off my chest

Just booked a site for 21 nights for an eye watering £540!   After I got back on my feet I was informed that Caravan and Motor home club have increased their Easter fees this week two weeks early.  Why I ask. even the management were embarrassed and thought it were shocking.

I spent 5 nights last week on a fabulous caravan and camping club site in heart of Northumberland with all the facilities and with over 60s discount £8 pn!

After only just re-joining I cannot  see the benefits of staying with  C&M club prices are beyond out reach.

Of course, touring in the place we are not allowed to mention is a doddle in comparison.

Of course you can mention touring in Europe as long as you are aware that costs there are irrelevant when considering UK site fees.

Over night stops at over £25? No, don't want to pay that much.

And of course you don't have to Brue. Other alternatives are available.

I dislike the business principle of telling people to go elsewhere if they think a price is too high.

I hardly think that a 'business principle' Brue. A simple fact of life is if that if you feel a price is too much then you are free to consider alternatives. For my youngest daughter, a single mum with a 6 and 7 year old who augments her income by on linee surveys etc enabling her to claim working tax credit and who also currently recieves child tax credit it would be too expensive.

This wasn't a personal view it was a business view. The club has to compete for take up of pitches, going elsewhere is a sign that the system probably needs tweaking to attract more customers. Without the revenue the club can't improve on it's customer provision.

Best to avoid CC sites if they do not provide what you want and they are not cheap David

You're saying it again EasyT, telling people to go elsewhere is not an attractive proposition!

Most off putting to read as well. smile

As working farmers we get very little time away, so tend to book sites we know (don’t want to waste our holiday being dissatisfied).

We are currently on the CCC site at Bala and it’s a similar price to CAMC sites this week, I think. About £125 for 4 nights. But we don’t begrudge as we chose the site to be near a friend.

We’ve had a few niggles getting the caravan ready and maybe it’s time to change it. But for the time we use it it wouldn’t be value for money.

But we recently bought an expensive nearly new car, which we think is value for money. We use it more than the caravan and we love it!

PS the free Wi-fi here is rubbish!

Is it a rip off ?   IMHO a rip off is when something does not turn out to be as described/advertised etc when I chose to pay for it.

I tend to think as members we each choose from what the club has to offer that suits us personally/individually and that all members must have at least 1 reason for joining or continuing their membership otherwise there would be little point in paying the yearly fee.

Particularly like being able to book 1 night only - not always allowed by some other providers.  As in all aspects of life – personal choice is there for all.

That may be so Brue but, for some, the true facts of the matter are not always palatable. You seem already to arrived at a similar conclusion for you and OH however with regard to considering alternatives to match your requirements

You have taken that first sentence out of context. I was speaking of choice.

The second you have attributed to Brue. It was in my post. And that was exactly the point I was making. We do go elsewhere for o/n stops.

The first line was not out of context WTG. You said that you were not permitted to mention 'over there' and I was merely saying that you were but that pitch price comparisons held no relevance ........ I did not say that you were making such comparisons.

The second sentence did erroneously refer to a Brue instead of yourself. Put it down to my daftness and poor memory

But the CC Club does not tell members to go elsewhere Brue. Members choose a site that is not a CC site for many reasons. Cost is but one of them.
