Excessive site fees

Just returned from Chester Fair Oaks site, one night, £31.30 !!, I nearly choked on my dentures, It was our first trip out this year, only able to book something last minute.Ok, apparently, our over night stay was classed as still in  the 'High' season, but £31.30 per night (two adults) to stay in my own caravan is ridiculous. The club is in danger of  killing the goose that layed the golden egg. it's easy sometimes to forget that we have also paid a membership fee for the privilege of being charged so much.

It seems the only model CC have is to jack up prices accross the board. I read somewhere on these thread that the price increases in 2016 are 8%.If more of us are shunning the CC off peak and going esewhere there is only one route to follow to maintain income and thats to up the peak prices. Not only that but the CC we usually use in

Winter- Lady Margaret- Chirk is now very dated, poor showers, absolutely  horendous access road. Better value and sites elsewhere.

"Can't understand why people pay whatever the CC decide just to look at regimental sites with few facilties as I don't think many CC sites have pools, restaurants or bars on."

Well, personally, we set a limit of about £20 a night, and we're quite happy to pay that because of the lack of those things! Happy

We also pay the asking price, because of the lack of facilities on an otherwise top notch site. One of our weeks is £31 per night because it is in peak, but we would not get a commercial, of similar standard for that, with or without pool/ bar.

We have stayed on  a fully serviced pitch on a commericial sites for less than £18 a night in June.  Why can't the CC match that price.  Ross Park in Devon makes CC sites look like a neglected CL so do some other commercial sites!

I think that £20 is a fair price for mid season, but £30 or more is a total joke and I am surprised people are happy to be over charged by a club for which they pay membership?

Ross Park is indeed a very fine site. But unless you're taking advantage of their special deals and staying 7 night's or more I believe it works out slightly more expensive than Ramslade which, for us, is in a better location. Happy

The CC is a very old established and, in many ways, outdated organisation that relies on a huge income in membership fees to support an undoubtably massive HO overhead.

I find it very sad however, when I read some posts from people who will blindly continue to support the CC in the only way they seem to know to cover their site overheads - to jack up prices way beyond inflation every year. Any company with any savvy at all, knows that simply increasing prices does not increase profit.

The inevitable will happen as the CC spiral downward in a sea of losses and competitors overtaking them......they will have to sell off their (our) sites. We have already seen the first amateurish attempts at this.

Is this really what some people want? Time to wake up to reality and get your favourite caravan site operator to do the same!

Commercials may well undercut the CC in June, but June is not high season, a service pitch at Troutbeck would cost £27.70, which I think is good value for a lovely site. In high season the price increases to £33.50, still I think a good price. What does that commercial charge in high season?

Ian, have a look at some of the posts in the "good value" thread in UK touring. It is perfectly possible to organise a 3 week your including CC sites for well under £20 a night. We"'re doing exactly that at the moment. Whilst oft quoted commercial/private sites offer some great deals if you're happy to  stay in one place for a week or more, we find they are rarely cheaper on a night by night basis. The secret is yo do a bit of research first. I really don't think there are many on here who "blindly support" the CC, do you? Happy

well judging by the booking availiblity there seem to be plenty of us who  either blindly pay up or perhaps we really see what good value the club sites are in terms of quality

But ONCE again, no one if forced to go to them, if thy are too high why are so many upset by this, go somewhere else

steve....£27.70.....for a pitch 'not in high season'.......dream on...i dont do high season so the £33 fee is of no interest....

i do 'out of high season'.....and £27.70 is taking the michael...

£18.....just about....at a push.....but knocking £30!?
