I have just read a review on a cc site in the West Midlands where the wardens have put up a" name& shame"board,as they are having trouble with speeding .I know this as I have recently returned from said site. The poster of the review has put that they think it's,and I quote "a bit pathetic" .That to me is an insult to the wardens,as they are at least attempting a positive reaction to an ongoing problem .Any views on this? .Rant over .

rather than some convoluted 'name on a board'....why dont wardens (like the local Bobby) just have a quiet, but firm, word with any offenders and tell them that their speeding has been noted....Happy

should the warden have cause to speak to them again, they will be asked to leave the site and their details forwarded to EG for 'sentencing'.... Sad

Quite exceptionally last year we did 26 nights on CC Ltd sites and I did not see one vehicle driving without due care.  Almost invariably any problems I have seen were caused by other campers being nosy, interfering and acting as self-appointed keepers of the “rules” that they really don’t know and make up or twist to suit the occasion and fit whatever has upset them personally.

One example that sticks in my mind was a man and his wife ranting and screeching at the driver of a large RV very slowly driving to his allocated pitch the wrong way around the one way system.  Quite sensibly the warden had suggested he do so as it was the shortest and least difficult route to the pitch.  The warden saw the confrontation and tried to explain his decision to them but received a mass of abuse and threats of being reported for his trouble.

..It takes all sorts ,desrecion does not always work, when some insist on the rules being upheldWink

We spend in the order of 100 nights and if exercising due care is defined as driving responsibly at 5 mph, then we see a vast number of violations. It is not unusual to see speeds of in excess of 10 mph, often with the van attached.

I don't think it's a good idea, I wouldn't mind betting that one or two might get irate with the wardens and deny they did anything wrong. Don't know what the answer is except a few more visible (and friendly) walks around the site by the wardens.
