So, this is your opportunity folks, to raise points direct to the board.

There's plenty (in fact there's BUCKET LOADS) of folk, never more willing to complain behind the safety of their keyboard and internet connection, but who's got the guts to stick it to the floor for open debate?

***when the time comes, the room will fall eerily silent and the power people will assume everything is honky doory***

Betcha wink

Not a chance, but congratulations on being the first to reply with an excuse tongue-out

Just been reading the report ahead of the meeting which briefly mentions some of the issues that have been raised in the last year, one in particular (guess)

2016 report

What is interesting is the comment about membership, new members and those renewing. Its very vague. The C&CC have declared in their last magazine (which is very good BTW, lots of appealing articles) that they have had over 53,000 new members join in the last 12 months, they give a more exact figure but I've not got the mag to hand.

I'd really like to know how many *new* members the club has attracted, especially recently, since the rebrand. That would be fascinating. But not interesting enough to note a figure in the pre AGM report? Wonder why?

I think the c&cc membership is down to the big increase in Camping in  tents as it is so much cheaper for families with the increase in "staycations"

You could be right, however on the sites I've stayed on this year (one in particular which fell during May half term), the number of caravans/motorhomes far outweighed the numbers of tents during that week.

Without specific statistics as to what new members joining the C&CC are using... tent, caravan, motorhome, camper van etc... you and I are only guessing, making assumptions. Do you know for a fact the new recruits are mainly campers?

One thing I do know, having read the latest C&CC magazine, the direction they are taking with the emphasis on adventure and activities, is very evident. Articles on taking up mountain biking and kayaking being a couple of the lead titles. (not a single macro image of a bird, insect or flower to be found)

Considering this club were striking the same approach following the rebrand, it'll be interesting to see how the next magazine (when it lands) compares.

Correction... magazine rescued from the rack - 58,659 new members recruited to the C&CC in the last year.

Nigel, you also need to look at the oppositions mag again, there is a big fat hairy spider on page 25....wink

Thanks for bringing the AGM up as a topic though, I see the club are hoping members will fill in the surveys about sites, but the take up looks quite low at 30%. Maybe they need to up the rewards a little, has anyone ever received anything from the prize draw for filling in the 73,000 surveys? That's a lot of form filling by the 30%!

Indeed there is, but in my defence, it doesn't accompany some fluffy wildlife article. The Creepy Crawley Show, who'd have thought such a thing exists.

Ah well some of us like the fluffy wildlife...you need to slow up on that bike of yours, you might be missing something. wink

Hope someone is going to the AGM?
