Just had a letter today from the club. Opened it to find a letter stating I have now been a member for ten years and as a thank you in with the letter was a sticker which showed ive now been with the club for ten years. If this is how the club wishes to thank members they can stick it where the sun don't shine. Would it not be better to say hey thanks for being with us for ten years and here's a voucher for £5 off your next stay. So miffed ive stopped my automatic subscription

'we' also received our 10 year award - sticker included -   in this mornings post. Whilst, i agree a good will gesture token would be very nice and greatly received and perhaps 'food for thought' for the club. Personally, to cancel one's subscription in response, could be a case of throwing the baby out with the bathwater?  or have i missed the point here?

Personally I dont give a fig how long I and others have been members.  If it fulfils my requirements then I'm still in.

What about 10% off the annual membership fee starting at 10 years membership, then rising in 5 year increments. It may encourage some members to keep up the subs.

The club wouldn’t loose much because the fee is rising every year anyway.

What does it matter?

I've been with my bank for 20 years and we've shopped at the same local supermarket for 12 years. What sort of recognition do I get from them? That’s right, zilch, so why expect something from the club? undecided

It matters Tinwheeler because the club calls itself a club, with member benefits. Members like to have benefits, a bit like the co-op or Nationwide BS.

Hmm, Nationwide never gave me anything but inefficiency. 😋

The RAC calls itself a club as well and I don’t expect any benefits from them either, other than what I'm paying them for.

Looking at it another way, every single thing this club does has a cost attached so it wouldn't be the club, as an entity, funding the freebies but it would be us members - as it was with the name change, site signs.....🙄

Nope, to me it matters not one iota. The club is there and I use it as suits me and expect no reward for doing so.

I think it's about expectations. I don't expect anything for my membership fee, other than what I was told when I joined.

Before the club sent out 10 year stickers or letters, I'm sure there were people saying that the club should do more.

Yes it's nice to be recognised or acknowledged, but I don't expect this or to be rewarded for it.
