Welcome to the Caravan and Motorhome Club.

Ever since we came together as a group of outdoor enthusiasts 110 years ago, our Club has continued on a journey of discovery. It's time for us to make some changes for the better by redefining who we are to help you get the most of the great outdoors.

I’m sure you all have lots of questions, please post your feedback and queries in this thread.

What does our new logo mean? We created a video to explain how we created it:

I do wonder if the Committee new what the members wanted? I doubt that many wanted the meaningless buzz words. Not sure how many wanted a name change for that matter

Inspire - Together we want to inspire more people to enjoy the great outdoors.

Simplify - We'll make the experience as easy and seamless as possible so you can enjoy the great outdoors your way.

Pioneer - At heart, we're explorers forever looking to learn, discover and innovate.

Inclusive - We're a diverse community of adventurers, drawn together by our passion for the great outdoors.

I do think all this doom & gloom talk of a sad day for caravanners and a bleak future is a bit OTT to be honest. Personally I believe the rebranding was unnecessary, but as long as it doesn't have a detrimental effect on my useage of club sites I can live with it. And I'm guessing that, although undoubtedly expensive, the sums involved would not go far towards the acquisition of a new site or even the major upgrade of an existing one.

Anyway, I'm pleased to say that my letter and stickers have just dropped through the letterbox - enclosed in an envelope proudly bearing the logo of ... er ..."The Caravan Club" and with a return address to match. Now that's going to confuse the postman down East Grinstead way for sure! wink

I for one will never enter my caravan details into their computer, what about us all becoming motor-homers on paper at least it might stop the pitch allocation,👍

What pitch allocation.  I only got a MH last June and every CC site I have been on since I take the choice of pitch available when I arrive just the same as I did when I had a caravan.

Posted on 22/02/2017 11:30

The only allocation that I am aware of is when it rains heavily and caravans may be directed to use grass to leave hard standing for motorhomes. Only happened to me twice. First time I looked at the grass pitches, returned to reception and asked for a refund as I was not going to spend 5 nights using a muddy and already cut up pitch. Instead I was directed to use a hard standing.

The other occasion the warden said that he would be grateful if I used grass. Having viewed the site I chose one of a fair number of hard standings and set up. The warden seemed surprised until I pointed out that I had not been directed to use grass and had no reason to want gratitude if that meant a saturated pitch.

Sad to say but, in my view if a pitch is not suitable for a 3.5 tonne motorhome then it is not suitable for me and should be closed and those with bookings advised as early as possible.

Moulesy,  I'am with you on this , not sure that the CC really needed to "re brand" but let's hope they now put into action all they promise.

They haven't promised anything though. Only wifi across the network as far as I can see.

There's a load of guff about the great outdoors and shared values but not one actual firm indication of how they intend to change.

Personally I don't share the values and I'm not interested in the slightest in the great outdoors so I'm waiting patiently for some facts. The next round of management speak will see me spit my dummy out though

A club means a collection of like minded people, we pay for this club, but I don't remember being asked to spend our money on what is probably an expensive design team to come up with a new logo when the old one is recognised throughout the UK and beyond. Like so many rebrandings, it is a waste of time AND money that could have been spent on real issues like the closure of club sites and fixing the broken webs site and app.

The executive need to get their priorities right. Fix what is broken and leave what is working - in a nutshell IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!

God awful logo crappy brown colour and l suppose wardens will now have a crappy looking new uniform, would have been better using the money on reducing fees to make the sites more affordable for all.

New Logo: I don't like it but I can live with it

New Name: I can live with that as well

Inspire - Simplify - Pioneer: is just management speak which means whatever you want it to mean.

The statement I take issue with is:

Inclusive - We're a diverse community of adventurers, drawn together by our passion for the great outdoors.

I have just watched the 'We're here for everyone' video.

Everyone in the video is white and able bodied. Not a single representative from an ethnic background and/or with any form of disability.

I question that showing members of management on the golf course and horse riding are also the correct images?

When on site, and at exhibitions and shows, it is really noticeable that there are very few people of colour who are caravaners. Encouraging people to join the club who are not white/caucasian is where the Club ought to be spending its PR budget and not on those of us who are already committed to the cause.

Until the Club is able to encourage and embrace people of colour into caravanning/motorhoming the Club can never be considered to be inclusive.

Hi Simon100,

You raise a valid point on the issue of diversity. The aim of this rebrand is to change perceptions and encourage a more diverse group to join us in our hobby, and to make sure that those who already enjoy our hobby feel included and welcome.

We’re an inclusive community that will always treat all members equally, and we want that to be reflected as we move forward.

Hi Caravanbreak,

The Executive Commitee, who are Club members that are elected to represent the membership were fully involved in this project every step of the way.

The Committee have fully endorsed the changes we’re making. In fact, they were a vital part of this whole process, helping us better understand what our members want.

Posted on 22/02/2017 11:47

I suggest the Executive Committee don't understand at all what the members want as the overall majority of people in this discussion seem against the change if only because of what it has and will cost. Remind me again how much it will be, oh no one will tell us that.
