Great News - during winter 2020/21 we converted six grass pitches into hardstandings pitches, increasing the length and making them usable all year round.

Set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, Wharfedale Club Campsite is screened from the outside world with stately trees and offering a rich variety of wildlife. Its two fields are divided by dry stone walls, which are very characteristic of this area. There are numerous walking paths from which you can explore the splendid surrounding countryside, and plenty of dog-friendly walks nearby. Situated in this loveliest of National Parks, the site has excellent facilities.

Wharfedale Club Campsite puts you within easy reach of Grassington, one of the most picturesque villages in the Yorkshire Dales. With its charming cobbled main street, comprehensive Information Centre and a good selection of shops selling local specialities, you will find more than enough for a fun family outing. There are also numerous pubs serving some fine Yorkshire Ales and some delicious home-cooked treats to be had. Prior to Christmas, Grassington holds a series of Dickensian Days on Saturdays throughout December, making this North Yorkshire caravan park the perfect destination for a festive holiday break. You can also enjoy a walk into Burnsall village which boasts a beautiful riverside location.

We look forward to welcoming you on site soon.

Return visit after 12 years

Wharfedale Club Campsite
We hadn't visited Wharfedale site for 12 years. We were delighted to see how much better it is now. The dark pitches at the bottom of the site have been cleared and opened up. The dog walk is so much better and we can see a lot of hard work has gone into making it less rocky and muddy. It's a lovely short walk right around the site. Unusual these days but there is a small shop in reception selling a few basics, e.g milk, eggs etc. This is unusual these days so please support them. We had a serviced pitch and it was very convenient to have water, electric and drainage. However, personally I might go for a standard pitch as many of these seemed to me to be in better positions. At the time of our visit there were recycling bins at the service point I used. Percivall Gardens isn't very far away at Appletreewick. The cafe is excellent. Really good cup of tea or coffee and scone delicious. Staff charming. Not very accessible for wheelchairs/pushchairs or dog strollers due to uneven ground and a lot of steps in the formal garden. We had a lovely week and many thanks to all the staff for all their hard work.

A well maintained site with good walks and local busses

Wharfedale Club Campsite
A beautifully kept site from which you can walk out or jump on the local busses; and if you have a dog there is easy access to some quick walks (handy for first thing), or much longer ones. The site has a nice toilet and shower block, there is also a motorhome service point but nothing on the pitches which for us was a downside. That said we were parked pretty close to a service area so we were able to manually fill up with water and empty the grey waste. I'm sure many would move the vehicle but once it's level and everything is set up it's just quicker to do it manually. We going to invest in a waste water carrier to ease this problem. The staff on site were really helpful and able to answer all our questions on the local area. Just a short walk up the road is the Gamekeepers inn, it's dog friendly so we had a lovely meal there with the dogs, they even put a water bowl out for them. Thoroughly recommend a trip out to Grassington, walk along to Linton Falls or jump on a bus to Skipton, there is a lovely riverside walk there below the castle.

Great Site But Other Users Spoil It

Wharfedale Club Campsite
First and foremost the staff work very hard and provide an excellent service and there is no criticism of them what so ever, But after the staff have immaculately cleaned the loos and showers other users choose to have no regard for their hard work and other members. During our 7 night stay visits to the toilet block showed that users, dare we say other members, could not be bothered to leave the toilet or shower facilities clean. I will not go into detail. My wife also confirmed that the ladies on occasions was not acceptable. This never was the case a few years ago. The Caravan and Motorhome CLUB is exactly that - A CLUB - and members need to treat other members and staff with due respect. Otherwise a fine site with the added benefit of flexible parking of vans giving more choice. Great walking in the area and a short 20 minute stroll into Grassington with the Indian takeaway being especially good - cash only !

Little Gem

Wharfedale Club Campsite
First time we have stated at this site and we loved it, it’s in a great spot for visiting the surrounding area. Grassington is a pleasant 40 minute walk with some nice shops and pubs. Kettlewell is a lovely village about a 15 minute drive away with 3 pubs and nice walks around the village and along the river. There’s a Spar shop at the petrol station which is only about 2 miles from the site and just down the road there’s a great pub called The Old Hall Inn. The Gamekeepers Inn is on the static caravan site next to this site and there’s a short cut just outside the gate after the cattle grid. Staff on site were very pleasant and the site was well maintained

Amazing site and wardens and an observation on club policy on centralising buckets

Wharfedale Club Campsite
Second visit to this new to us, area of Yorkshire and what a find, scenery everywhere, the cute wee village of Grassington, the choice of at least 6 pubs within easy stroll and best of all an amazing former quarry nearby to explore. The roads were fun in our 8-metre motorhome and I as passenger certainly enjoyed the scenery, the driver, my partner wasn’t quite so keen on his drive down Patley Bridge High Street, the other route out to Skipton involved less swearing. As many have already reviewed, this is a very attractive caravan site, large well spaced pitches, well laid out, with lots of hedges and trees to give that country side feel and excellent facilities, between the shower block with an incredible 9 shower cubicles each (all immaculate) and 4 service points strategically around the site, it really was a joy to stay here. I also appreciate the work put into creating and keeping the superb dog walk mown and cleared, thankyou to the wardens, Hilary and Ed, who are an absolute credit to the club, who hopefully will recognise and reward them for their amazing effort to keep this site going. I now include an observation of a club policy, not voted on by members, which sadly appears to be copying the other club, with the intended removal of the individual service points waste and recycling buckets, to a centralised point at the site entrance. From observation of this in practice at the other club’s sites, this copied policy will prove to be a poor decision for environmental and cost reasons. As campers will have to walk longer distances to this point, their previously sorted recycling will for the sake of less hassle, now be combined into one bin bag and all put in the landfill bucket. Also, rather than walking, they will drive to the bucket, using the generally larger diesel vehicles required for towing, not a criticism just a fact, that generally members are older and less able to walk long distances. And the increased volume of landfill costs significantly more per tonnage for removal and disposal than recycling. This is therefore going to prove to be a poor environmental and financial cost policy, as well as an imposition of a policy not wanted, or of benefit to the actual members, whose club this should be for. Other members take heed and call out this imposition too please.
