Fast check-in at Clachan Club Campsite

Great news, fast check-in at Clachan Club Campsite is now here to stay

To enhance the efficiency of your arrival we have installed number plate recognition technology during check-in. When you arrive onsite the barrier will automatically open and you’ll be sent a TEXT asking for your pitch number. Once you reply to that TEXT you'll be checked in, meaning you can start your holiday sooner! For this to work please can you ensure you have paid in advance of your stay and your vehicle registration is up to date.

There is a limited reception service at Clachan Club Campsite, albeit there will be staff on site at busy times maintaining the site and will be around to answer queries.

Frequently asked questions

Why are you automating access to Club campsites?

We have installed Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology on site to help us offer you the best and most efficient service, freeing up staff for other important jobs on site and speeding up the check-in process which benefits you the member but also shows the Club as a good neighbour by reducing the impact on the local roads.

Our trial in 2023 helped us to enhance the experience, and working with our sites teams we will continue to evolve this service to ensure it works as efficiently as possible.

Will all Club campsites be automated?

This is currently in operation at 4 Club campsite locations and we are planning to add more sites in the coming years. We will update this page and inform members as we add further locations.

How will I access the site?

Ahead of your arrival, please make sure to pay by midnight the day before your stay and update your membership details with your vehicle registration. Once you arrive at the barrier from 1pm, our cameras will verify your vehicle registration, a welcome screen will remind you of the pitch type you have booked and you will be able to proceed onto site.

What happens if the site arrival area is very busy? Can I still fast check- in?

You will have the choice to arrive and go to reception to check in and you will be added to the fast check-in system. Or, if you would like faster access to the Club campsite, please make sure to pay by midnight the day before your stay and update your membership details with your vehicle registration. You will then be able to join the 'fast check-in' lane which will be clearly signposted. Once you arrive at the barrier from 1pm, our cameras will verify your registration, a welcome screen will remind you of the pitch type you have booked and you will be able to proceed onto site. At busy times of the day you may still have a short wait while we process all arrivals. Please do not arrive before 1pm as this will block the entrance way for those already staying on site.

How will I know where to pitch?

Once you arrive at the barrier, our cameras will verify your registration, a welcome screen will remind you of the pitch type you have booked and you can proceed onto site. We will send you a link to the site plan by TEXT before arrival and we recommend that you familiarise yourself with the site plan before you arrive.

I haven't paid, how do I pay in advance?

You will receive a TEXT message 5 days prior to your stay to notify you that there is a balance outstanding for your stay with a link to make payment on the website. If you have set the booking to autopay, this will automatically come out of your account at 2am on the day of arrival. If not, you will be required to submit your payment by midnight the day before your stay.

If you do not make payment in advance or provide your correct vehicle registration, this will cause a delay to your arrival on site as the site has a limited reception service. If this is the case you will need to make payment online via 'My bookings' and call the site team to enable access to the site. A link to this will be included in your pre-arrival TEXT.

I don't have a vehicle registration on my booking - how do I add it?

Members who are booked to arrive at any of the fast check-in campsites will receive a TEXT prior to arrival asking for confirmation of their vehicle registration. Please respond to this TEXT if your vehicle registration is incorrect and provide the accurate vehicle registration.

My vehicle registration has changed, how do I update it?

Members who are booked to arrive at any of the fast check-in campsites will receive a TEXT prior to arrival asking for confirmation of their vehicle registration. Please respond to this TEXT if your vehicle registration is incorrect and provide the accurate vehicle registration. Please make sure your details are correct at the time of booking or at least 5 days before arrival.

I need to change my booking details - how do I do that?

If you need to make a change to your booking before your arrival, please log in to your account and manage your booking. If extra assistance is required, please call the site team who offer a limited reception service.

Will the Club campsite be secure?

The Club campsite will be just as secure as it is today with barriers restricting entry to paid members, and site staff will be on site or close by, with the entrance way covered by a camera.

What happens in an emergency?

Nothing has changed, staff still remain on site. All details are available at the information hut.

What happens if I cannot access the site?

If you encounter an issue at the barrier, there is an intercom which will connect you to a staff mobile phone. Our staff will still be available to help you until 6pm.

Can I arrive after 8pm?

There will be no arrivals to the Club campsite after 8pm. If you encounter a problem with your journey, please contact the Club campsite before 6pm.

Will staff still be on site?

Yes, staff will be on site.

Do I still need to go to Maragowan to check in?

All members with stays booked for Clachan Club Campsite should go straight to Clachan. As long as you make sure to pay by midnight the day before your stay and update your membership details with your vehicle registration, you will be able to drive in, stop at the white line and then proceed onto site.

What time can I arrive?

The campsite barrier will be programmed for any new arrival from 1pm to allow our site teams to get your pitch ready. Please make sure you factor into your journey a location where you can park and rest if you think you may arrive before 1pm.

Will staff no longer have a job?

Fast check in has been introduced to improve member experience and will enable our staff to be more available on site and do other important jobs.

Do I need a barrier card?

No, barrier cards will not be required. The fast check-in system will give you access for the duration of your stay.

How do I tell you what pitch I am on?

Once your registration is acknowledged by the fast check-in system, and the barrier has opened to let you in, a TEXT will be sent to your mobile phone asking you to reply to the message with details of your chosen pitch number. Once you have found your pitch, please respond to the TEXT message with your pitch number and we will complete your check-in. Please only provide your pitch number and no other information, this is an automated service. If you do not receive a TEXT please either let the staff on site know or visit reception to provide them with the details.

What happens if I arrive without a booking?

We encourage everyone to book in advance. However, if you arrive on site without an existing booking, please make a booking on the Club website or app and use the intercom for the site staff to check you in once your booking has been verified. The fast check-in system does not currently integrate with bookings made on the day of arrival, so if you arrive late you risk not being able to enter Clachan Club Campsite.

What happens if I want to leave early?

You can leave whenever but please make sure to inform our Club campsite staff of the time of your departure.

What is Visitor.Express?

Visitor.Express is a product from NetFM, our partner for fast check-in. They provide the technology that enables the fast check-in process to work efficiently based on accurate data.

I am bringing a second car, what do I need to do?

I have a seasonal pitch on site, what do I need to do?

If you have a seasonal pitch please let the site team know your vehicle registration details in advance of your stay in order for the barrier to open on arrival. If you have multiple vehicles, let the team know so they can add them to the system. If you have a motorbike, please let the site team know and they will let you know how to access the campsite. You will need to let the staff know as you do currently if you have anyone extra staying as they will need to pay an extra fee.

What if I have a non-standard vehicle registration plate?

If you have a non-standard UK vehicle registration plate (unusual font, spacing or a film that prevents reading of your vehicle registration) you will not be able to use our fast check-in service. Please speak to the site team in advance of your stay to discuss access arrangements.
