Over the last few summers we have always caught a ferry and gone off to explore France but this year we decided to stay at home for a change and head east – always hotter and drier!
Week 1 Holt, Norfolk staying at Hawthorne Farm – excellent site within walking distance of the town and close enough to the coast and the delights of Sheringham, Wells Next the Sea, Blackeney etc. Beautiful inland villages and waterways.
Week 2 Yoxford, Suffolk staying at Sunflower House – another excellent site and close to the resorts of Southwold, Dunwich, Aldeburgh, Thorpeness.
East Anglia isn’t well served with motorways and consequently doesn’t appear to have suffered commercialisation and progress into the 21st century and for some of us thats brilliant.
Stopped off on the way home - 48 Swaffham Rd, Burwell near Cambridge– another must visit place and marvel at the colleges.
Was I disappointed that we didn’t go abroad – you bet – but we had a brilliant time and it was ridiculously hot and we barely saw a drop of rain.
