Faded Glory

First stop on a two week tour in June 2024 and we stayed 3 nights. Easy to get to, no problems on that front - I did read somewhere that the access road was tight?! They’ve clearly never need to Cornwall. The first thing the hits you is how very nineties it is. You would probably see this place in series 3 of Eurotrash. Faded and past its prime is the best way to describe it. Warning - it looks nothing like the pictures. There is no “beach”. There is a coastal wall with a 2m deep bit of sand in some places. The town of Arradon is a half hour walk, which is fine - and even better, carry on for 10 minutes and there is a hypermarche! Arradon is also well served by buses, and we caught one into Vannes on the second day, no problem. Ok - facilities. Toilets had no soap, no handgel and no toilet seats. They were also VERY shallow, meaning you’re close to the water, which is just unpleasant. Showers were fine - that’s the best I can say. Hot. All in all however, you felt slightly dirty coming out of the facilities, and personally I didn’t look forward to using them. The onsite shop is rudimentary, but you can order bread in the morning. The staff were friendly and approachable. REMEMBER - reception is closed between 12:30 and 14:30. You show up then, expect a wait. That happened to a few people while we were staying. Pitches are grass, (never a good thing if raining) and frustratingly, not all of them have an electric hook up, so you need to find the closest one and hope you have a long enough cable. It was quiet, which is good. A few other English were staying, but mostly French. The site did feel a little cramped did our liking. Is it worthy of inclusion to the CAMC? Difficult to say. The British sites are of such a high standard, that coming here was a bit of a shock, I won’t lie. But I also appreciate that France has a far greater history when it comes to camping parks than us, so they will be older and perhaps a bit shabby in places. So not really what we were expecting, but not terrible. I guess over the next few weeks we have to manage our expectations…
