WORTH MUCH MORE THAN A STOP-OVER

We stayed here on the way down to the Dordogne and found the area of the Loire valley to be great with lots to do from Chateau visiting to exploring the local towns which are really worth a visit. The site itself is in a great location right next to the river and we were lucky enough to be allocated a pitch adjacent to the river...just had to be careful re the mosquitos which found us to be rather tasty regardless of the insect repellant! The site is well managed and has clean wash blocks but we were put off using the restaurant terrace when we saw an adder slither under the concrete into a hole. We managed to trip the electric x 3 as 6 amps is nowhere near enough - the electricity should be updated to 10 amps as we were rotating fans and other electrical gadgets to try and keep the energy consumption to a minimum but still continually had the power shut off. Even though we had a few issues we would go back here as the sites good points re location and quality far outweigh the bad points.

Chillin' in the sun

Lovely peaceful campsite, lovely for walking, or bike rides along the river. Close to many interesting towns and chateau's. Facilities very good, one little niggle is the electrics, could do with updating to 10 amp.  A big niggle was wi-fi being only available at the bar this could do with being sorted out. Apart from the above we enjoyed the site, the friendliness of the staff, the pitches are quite generous and the overall atmosphere was excellent.  We would return to this site in the future.

A great site for a few nights or a longer stay.

We stayed twice on our way to and from the Dordogne in June this year, staying for 2 or 3 nights each time. The site is very well kept, most of the pitches are a reasonable size and some of the riverside ones are large. There is plenty to see and do in the area (more than we had time to do), and the receptionists are very helpful. All speak good English (or are English!). If you are there on a Friday go on the walk round the local vineyards that Sarah leads each week. There is water close to all the pitches and the toilets are kept spotless. The pool is good, although perhaps a bit small for the site, but that's a minor niggle. There is a shallow pool for kids too. There is an on site bar and restaurant with wifi available at a sensible price and they have a basic range of groceries and commodities in the shop. All in all a lovely and well run site.

A little bit of Britain in France

This is a nice site offering good facilities - including plugs in washing up basins and toilet paper! Run by Britons and most of the campers appeared to be British.  Nice pool, bar and brasserie. Very convenient location for sight-seeing, cycling, canoeing, and much more.

You will not be disapointed!

A lot of good things have been said in previous reviews about this campsite, believe them, because they are true. You will not be disapointed at all! Go and try for yourselves, but not for a 'stop-over' you need 5 days to visit many nearby attractions, and appreciate to excellent campsite itself. Swim in the river with the fish, enter upstream and float downstream in the gentle flow of the river towards the bridge, wave back to the people watching you from the camp-site, you will not be dissapointed at all. Stayed June 2015 9 days, met fellows campers making our stay even more enjoyable.

SUPER LITTLE SITE

We stayed here for a week at the end of August 2014 and have no hesitation in recommending this site. From the welcome we received on arrival to the cheery waves we exchanged on departure the staff could not be faulted. We were allocated a riverside pitch which only created a problem as to how best to pitch up to utilise all the space we had and we are a large outfit ! Chenonceau is one of the best chateaux in the area and just a 20 minute walk away, cycle paths everywhere, boat trips literally on the doorstep and lots to see and do without travelling for miles. We shall return.
