The area is magical, and the best way to see it is to hire a canoe from the campsite and float gently around the canals. Coulon is a pretty little town, and not too busy in the week in May, although more crowded at the weekends, and probably heaving in the Summer. I would recommend a visit to Arcais - very pretty.
