Ideal for visiting the bulbfields

Busy site but very helpful at reception, spoke excellent english. There are cycling tracks from the site but it is possible to walk to the coast where there are dunes and a long beach. Keukenhof gardens are a short drive away. We booked our visit through reception and were taken by minibus. Locally Rijnsburg has shops and a museum (no english) which has limited opening. We also took a bus into Leiden which is worth a visit. You can also get a train to Amsterdam from Leiden central station which is easy to do and they run frequently. We enjoyed our buffet meal at the on site restaurant.

Great site, great location

This was our first trip to The Netherlands and it won't be our last.  The site is excellent if somewhat tight for space in some areas. But we seem to be spoilt at home with lots of room on club sites! We had poor weather with rain or sleet or hail every night but drainage was generally good and we saw only a few deep tyre tracks. Great shop, snack bar and restaurant and indoor pool. Excellent staff, friendly and knowledgeable. We went to the Keokenhof gardens, The Hague, Amsterdam by train, lots of local towns and villages by the sea with great beaches. Everywhere is so clean and the people so friendly and helpful. Directions to the site are poor and we are really glad we had satvav! Will go again but probably in late June when the weather is better but the site is not too crowded. Aircraft noise was not a problem to us.

Great Dutch Site - visited 16 April for a week 2016

Our second visit as we love this site. Friendly English-speaking staff (as is just about everyone in Holland).  Took our folding bikes and travelled all over. Beach nearby is clean with great cafe/restaurants with easy access by bike!  Visited Gouda cheese market which is held on Thursday 10am until 1pm. Varied stalls with great value cake/bread stalls.  Unfortunately can get noisy with planes taking off and landing at Schipol airport.  But that's not constant.  We use the Newcastle to Idjmoden DFDS crossing which is overnight and for the return as this is less than an hour to the site.  We have a twin axle tourer and book a fully serviced pitch to ensure we have a large pitch. We book out of school holidays too!

Another excellent visit

Just visited this site again (about our 4th visit) to visit the Keukenhof Gardens but what a gem this site is.  We arrived VERY late after a crossing through storm Katie and yet the staff were welcoming and helpful, even late into the evening.  In fact, throughout the stay, we could not have wanted better or more helpful or more friendly service.  They were more than accommodating in adjusting our booking so that, having missed the first day because of the crossing from Harwich, we could delay our departure.  The site was, as always, extremely clean and tidy with all the facilities we expected. The pool was busy with small children having swimming lessons, but they still managed to let me swim some serious (albeit short) widths.  The shop, restaurant and snackbar/bar were open every day and the quality and variety of food was very good.  Even the Wifi was first rate (could we learn from this on UK sites ?).  The site is well placed for visits to Amsterdam, Keukenhof, Volendam and especially the Space Centre at Noordwijk.

The only two negative comments that I would make were the selfish parking in the car park which made access to our super-pitch very difficult and the noise of the aircraft arriving at or departing from Schipol - not that the staff on the site could do much about either. Overall I would praise the staff and management of the site wholeheartedly and recommend Camping Koningshof to all the Club Community.

Sept 2015

We visited just after the school kids had returned to school after their summer hols. Quite a busy site even at this time of the year but it was still quiet. The café & shop were open every day at certain times. The only thing I was disappointed in was the Restaurant as it was closed and when you have a motorhome we were looking forward to dining there. The café was very nice, lovely food & nice ambience. All the staff were brilliant. We had a problem with the polarity of the electrics but they immediately sent someone to sort it out. Unfortunately it rained most of the time & had to be towed off the pitch with a tractor -a first for us. The staff were very attentive & nothing was too much trouble and we found this where ever went in Holland, the Dutch are lovely people. The site facilities were immaculate. Pool & children's play area looked brilliant and the onsite lake with the ducks & geese was fun. Fantastic FREE wi fi and we had no problems with it. We had a great day at the Space centre. Without any children it meant WE could play on all the gadgets. But be aware the car park is very small. The beaches along the coast are fantastic, sandy and lots of it. We tried visiting the aquarium near The Hague but it was impossible to park so if in a motorhome catch the train or bus. Even though we were dodging the rain and hail storms I would still go back to this site, the area is lovely.

We loved it.

We have just come back from this site August 2015. We had a great time. I take issues with the cleanliness comments. The toilet block was always clean and tidy. The cleaner was there full time and did a good job it was as clean as any other caravan club site. He did sit outside pitch 48 having a cig so I guess that annoyed a previous reviewer. The location is great. Easy reach to lots of lovely Dutch towns, like Gouda, delft and The Hague. Leiden closest town but the beach resorts of katwick and noordwick lovely too. We have been here twice and members must remember this is not an English site and as such things are done differently. We embraced the Dutch culture and had a fabulous holiday. Cycling is great, lots of routes from the site. Bikes can be hired. We saw animals being fed and never without water. My daughter enjoyed kids club and inside and outdoor pool area was great.

Koningshof

We booked this site for a three night stay before sailing back to the UK from the Hook of Holland. We had a nice pitch with eight units altogether and although a bit tight getting in for a long van, we found the pitch to be large enough for our needs. We did not put our awning up so could park the car right next to our caravan for convenience, with an awning up this would not have been possible. The toilet blocks need completely updating and were not that clean.  One thing to note if staying on this site is the airplane noise which starts around 4 am and is fairly constant.  The site is very well placed for sight seeing and the staff were helpful and friendly.

Not as good as it reads -needs better maintaining

We have just stayed at this site, only booked ferry via CC and booked this site independently but feel as the club uses Koningshof in their Overseas brochure our views might help when making a choice. We were on Pitch 48 Comfort pitch -not a great choice, when you choose your pitch from Koningshof website it is hard to identify that the bins are opposite this pitch and are only emptied on a weekly basis therefore bins overladen and rubbish bags dumped. Cleaning of the toilet blocks are regular but not very good, the male cleaner spent more time smoking and hiding behind the toilet block! We would say this site is suitable for families and the facilities are ok but the site needs better maintaining especially the pitches, our was overgrown hedges were up to 15ft tall! felt as though we were imprisoned. Mobile homes on the site do not have parking nearby but park outside pitch 48 to off load the belongings blocking you in. There is a small animal farm onsite but the animals don't seem to be fed & watered on a regular basis

Mmmmm?

Very pleased that we did not stay on this site during school holidays, because it really is a families site. In addition, the site is split into segments into which up to 8 caravans are crammed in, with hardly any space between them and, because of high hedges, no view. In fact, we didn't recognise the Clubs description of 'Natural and peaceful surroundings with scenic views' and 'spacious site'. Having said that, ideally located for Noordvijk aan Zee and its beautiful beaches and shallow sea; for Leidon, which is well worth a visit, especially at the weekend when the riverside restaurants are packed and the atmosphere terrific; and Amsterdam, an interesting, double decker, train ride away. 1 hour from The Hook for the return ferry too. So I suppose it has something going for it. We won't return though.
