Friendly site.

We arrived for a 3 night stay to find our Caravan Club booking had been cancelled instead of amended as our documentation showed. Fortunately a pitch of the type we booked was available and the friendly and efficient reception staff soon rectified the situation. Our fully serviced pitch surrounded on 3 sides by high hedges suited us well. The facilities, whilst a little dated, were clean and well maintained but we feel would be stretched at busy times. There is a large Eurocamp presence in chalets that abound around the site swelling numbers in the season.  We didn't use the pool but it would be good for families, also the playground and games area. Sitting under the flight path of Schipol Airport (15 miles distant) the noise from aircraft was a little intrusive at times but is no doubt affected by the wind direction so will vary. The location on the edge of Rijnsberg is semi urban but ideally placed for visits to many interesting towns by car, bicycle or train. The beautifully sandy beaches are only 3 miles distant and stretch for miles.  In all we enjoyed our short stay and were able to defer our leaving time to coincide with our ferry sailing from Amsterdam. We would visit again to see many of the places we didn't have time for on this occasion.

To many aircraft

Although the site is well situated for local towns and the beach, the latter not as close as you think , the continuous noise from low flying jets spoilt it. Further , make sure you check your pitch especially if you want to keep away from children . Do not get near the swimming pool which is also the bin area.

2nd time and as good as first

Just returned from 10 day stay the weather was brilliant and the site was great. The staff are helpful and the other people on the site are all polite. The facilities are great and are clean and tidy no matter what time of day you use them. The site is a good base for visiting various places. Would quite happily return to this site for a third time.

A Great Stay!

We based our main summer holiday out of Koningshof this year, it was our first visit to Holland and the site didn't disappoint! One thing I think is important to mention is that is a relaxed site and space between pitches are considerably smaller than the usual Caravan Club UK sites. Having swapped our caravan last year for the fun of a classic VW T2 Bay campervan and the experience of festivals that go along with it, we no longer (after around 20 years of CC membership) have the same expectations and quite enjoy a less regimented formation. The pitches may be smaller but there are no issues that we observed anyway. Those that ran the site were very friendly and helpful, the onsite shop doesn't quite have the same opening hours that we are used to in the UK but it's well stocked, you may just have to adjust your time-keeping :-) There are 3 toilet block facilities on site. We were lucky to be pitched near the middle one which was lovely and clean and obviously newer than the remaining two. There are great facilities for kids including a swimming pool (although we can't speak from experience as ours are past the kids club stage) weekend entertainment, a bar, a restaurant and take-away on site. Location wise we found it to be a good base for site seeing and within walking distance to the nearest little town where there is a supermarket and lots of other shops. Overall, we had a lovely stay and would highly recommend it.

2nd time good but not as good as previously

Our visit here in July was our 3rd to Holland and 2nd to this site. As always Holland was great, we loved it, particularly as the weather was superb for our 10 night stay. The site is great in terms of facilities and location with lots for adults and children to do both on and off site. We spent days out at the beach (a short bike ride away, Leiden (by bus), Haarlem, and Amsterdam (by train) and thoroughly enjoyed all of these. We were pleasantly surprised that we were permitted to break our train journey to Amsterdam to spend a few hours in Haarlem. Bikes are a must in Holland and we used ours to visit the lovely towns and villages in the locality. For the sake of balance I'll report on the lesser enjoyable matters. Firstly the amount of air traffic was much more than last year and we assume this is because of the time of our stay, July this year compared to May last year. Secondly some late night chatter from adjacent Eurocamp chalets was annoying on a couple of occasions. Although this didn't disrupt our sleep too much our neighbours, who were in our party, said that they had been kept awake until the early hours on a couple of occasions. Lastly the weakness of GBP against the Euro mean that shopping, pubs, and restaurants feel a lot more expensive now so be prepared.

Love the Netherlands

Great site and very helpful staff. We stayed for 2 weeks and found this to be a great base for using the bus and train links to The Hague, Amsterdam and the local lovely town of Leiden. Cycling is brilliant and the beach can be reached in 10 minutes by car or is an easy cycle. Voorhout 5 mins by car is good for shopping and trains. We had a corner pitch but will ask for a single pitch on our return as it got very busy by the end of the second week and ball games became rather irritating. I could have stayed another week and will definitely return, pitch permitting. Easy drive from the Europoort.

OK for a first stop for a few nights

It's only an hour's drive away from Hook of Holland and was our choice as 1st stop for our 1st week in Holland, having not been here before. An initial mixup about the pitch wasn't welcome after a tiring day, although luckily it was sorted out promptly with another nearby pitch being available. Having had a few weeks of rain each pitch seemed to be sodden, with the awning area devoid of grass. Pitches here are well used and turned round regularly. The area itself is good - you can cycle to the coast easily, and down the Scheveningen, one of our favourite places. We chose not to go to Amsterdam, everywhere being so busy with bikes, mopeds and traffic. Although we enjoyed our time here, we would probably get an overnight ferry next time and drive the 2.5 hours across Holland to Resort De Arendshorst. There's lots to do for families, with a real fun atmosphere for the young ones. As a couple with grown up children we prefer the quiet locations

Good site

Good area for getting the bike out - ride to the coast quite easy and I found the bowling alley!Handy for the train into Amsterdam. I was on a large pitch which was great but some of the pitches are very tight. Toilets/showers ok. Staff very friendly. Would return.

June 2016 visit

Booked this site for 3 nights because of previous reviews but wish it had only been 1. Pitches are far too small - we had booked months in advance and had given full details of caravan length etc but we were given pitch which barely accommodated it and we were barely 3 ft from motor home next door. Toilet/showers ok but we have been on sites where this accommodation is streets ahead. No apparent control over football being played around the pitches. Had to park car away from van. Happens to be on direct flight path into Schipol with flights going on all night. Not impressed at all.

Response from the Caravan Club:

Thank you for leaving this review on our website.  We are disappointed that the site did not meet your expectations, we have contacted the site and made them aware of the issues that you have raised.

Response from Camping Koningshof:

We are very sorry that your member did not have such a good experience on our site.  Unfortunately, pitches on continental coastal campsites do not have the large pitches which you could find in forest areas inland.  At Koningshof we offer special pitches that are larger than standard.   We keep improving our site on a yearly basis and for 2016-2017 we are implementing larger pitches over all, more special pitches and renovation of toilets/showers.

Schiphol Airport is 30 miles north from here, and I can only admit that in this radius we have to accept minor noise nuisance.

Thank you for your comments!
