A neglected site unworthy of CAMC backing.
On check-in we were allocated a pitch but when went to it there was already a motorhome on it. It was however a standard pitch not the Motorhome pitch with water, waste, electric and hard standing we had ordered. We were then offered another pitch that was on a muddy field with deep tyre ruts in it. We then decided to look around ourselves to find a suitable pitch and found the "Motorhome pitches" unused, but NOT hard standing and arranged to pitch there.
The taps were push button so not suitable for hoses, drains were raised above ground level so unsuitable for waste water pipes.
The facilities - shop, bar, restaurant and snack bar were all closed. The shop and snack bar never opened during our 9 night stay. The Restaurant and bar only opened at the weekend.
The grounds needed attention with grass uncut in all tourer areas until 5 days into our stay.
Toilet and shower facilities were good, despite the 50 cent charge for a shower. The toilet block nearest us closed on Tuesday with no warning leaving us with a trek to the block on the other side of the site. The toilet block opened again at the weekend.
Overall, a badly run site, offering facilities such as hard standing that do no exist, facilities advertised that are not open and an overall neglected look Not only would I recommend that club members avoid this site, I would strongly recommend that the CAMC delist and stop selling this site.
arrived for 2 night stay prior to getting ferry home. helpful young man at reception, plenty of local info.
A lot of "permanent' outfits on the site. A very dilapidated caravan next to us, not being slept in, but used as a workshop by someone. Pool area looks very modern but rest of site looks tired. small cafe on site
Great cycling routes, Nijmegan easily accessible, Caught train from there to Arnhem.
Petrol station close by just prior to main road, well priced fuel.
Okay as stopover but not for anything else
We traveled to the site from the hook on stena line we were booked in for the Sunday
We were going to stay in the services we decided to go to the site at to see if we could get on early. It was 9 at night it was no problem the bar person made one call and gave us 3 options
We just had to book in in the morning
It was a good choice for us it was clean and good links to 3 large towns malden Nijmegen
And arnhem bike paths were also good and very safe as well you need to drive to the towns
Malden was easy by bike found every where we went the locals were very helpful
For help with understanding the parking system and meters we would book this site again
We arrived after 5.00pm with no-one on reception, but we registered in the bar and paid in the morning. There was loud music coming from nearby which was pretty annoying, I resent having to listen to other people's choice of music! Thankfully it stopped late evening and we had a quiet night with no road noise. The grassy pitch was spacious and flat amongst trees with a view of a windmill right next to the rural site. You had to pay for showers but there was a severe lack of instructions on how much they cost and there was no hot water in the toilet block for shaving. Ok for a stop over and was fairly empty at the beginning of May so lots of room.
We loved this site we booked 5 nights and ended up staying 12 nights, for us the location was great, marked cycle and walking routes straight from the site and supermarkets not too far away (a 15 minute cycle away)
Great days out within easy reach we and you could be in Germany in 20 minutes and there is lots of nice places to go there and it was good to get back to the site and jump in the pool .
The toilets / showers were absolutely spotless and to be honest I think we need to learn from the sites in Europe as we had 3 and a half weeks at various sites in France , Luxembourg and Holland and the standard of the facilities were much higher than in the UK ,They never closed for cleaning the people will work around you and most of them were getting cleaned every few hours so stay clean .
We have been here several times and used site mainly as overnight stop. It is located ideally for the Hook of Holland crossing.
Friendly people, good restaurant and facilities.
We stopped off here on our way to Germany and then on our way back home.Very near the motorway which was very convenient. Weather had been so wet the site was sadly empty and very sad as the facilities are good, but we did not take advantage of the open air pool. The trees are very tall and we felt it was rather dark and depressing. The staff were very helpful and an excellent laundry and shop.
Stayed for a couple of nights on way south from Ijmuiden - just a couple of hours easy drive. Very handy for motorway but accessed by a long narrow village drive with several chicanes to slow traffic (locals seem to think it's Brands Hatch though) needing extra care negotiating with long outfit.
Wanted to visit Arnhem and Airborne Museum at Hartenstein which are fairly near. Site has many permanent or very long term pitches and many were occupied although only a few tourers pitches were occupied - maybe a bit early at end of May 2016. Facilities good with bar/restaurant and shop etc. Good open air swimming and paddling pools for kids. Lots of walking and cycling paths in all directions.
We enjoyed our weeks stay here and reception were very helpful.
However on arrival one toilet block was completely closed and only the male facilities were available in the other block. When asked what females should do I was told use the male block, there is a family room you can shower in.
Later in the week the second block was opened but then the male side was closed because of a problem with the water. It had an end of season rather start of the season (May) feel to it. The toilet blocks were kept very clean. There only seemed to be one small area for campervans/motorhomes but lots of space for caravans. There are many marked foot and cycle paths that can be quickly accessd from the site. There is a shopping complex in the nearby town of Malden where you can buy everything you need. Nijmegen is close by and worth a visit. Arnhem is further away, but not too far but the Airborne museum is well worth a visit. There are walks/footpaths on the Molenhoek side of Malden; a map of the walks is avalable to buy in the bookshop in Malden.
