Stopover

We stayed in September 2015, on the way out and on return from East Germany. It is a convenient site not far off the motorway. Good facilities, although the showers are a bit dated. Pitches easy to access, all under trees. Good bar/restaurant. handy for many sites/museums in the area. We will use the site again.

In need of some attention

Easy to find, but then the roads in Holland are all fabulous - we even saw a roadside grasscutter followed by a huge roadside grass hooverer! Heumens Bos could be so much better than it is/was when we stayed there in late September 2015 - we had booked for 10 nights but only stayed for 5- left early.  There was an extremely annoying groundsman who thought it so amusing to walk around running a chainsaw.  Old fashioned shower block need urgent updating - currently no seating for a lady to do her makeup and hairdo

Great site, just a little noisy at times

We stayed at this site in late July/early August this year (2015). We really liked it apart from the club which played terrible Euro-pop music and/or Dutch music. Fortunately it didn't go on too late and it wasn't every night. In every other respect this was a great site. A few practical points: 1 All the pitches are under trees, great for shade, not so good in rain. 2 Therefore don't bother to wash your van before you travel! 3 This is a very Dutch site, don't expect too many English 4 Easy to get too, motorway all the way apart from the last mile or so. 5 Fantastic for cycling. Numbered maps everywhere so you don't get lost 6 Ladies, use no4 shower in the big block (all very clean) 7 Supermarkets in local town (Malden), use the green one as they take Bank cards ("plus+") There is also a great cheese shop there in the precinct. 8 This is not a tourist area, which is better. 9. Nijmegan is lovely. Do check out the riverfront restaurants. Great views of massive barges. 10 The pool is not heated, but very clean, great for kids I loved it here and will return

Check before you shower

Use this site as an overnight stop in June as it is easy to find and about two hours from the ferry. The site did have a tired feel to it, but I expect it was being prepared for the coming season, with maintenance work being carried out, hedge cutting and tree pruning. The site is clean and we found the staff helpful.  Be aware to check which shower stalls are unlocked before use. You need to activate the showers with a 50 cent coin. The mechanism is remote from the actual shower stall.  The owners don’t indicate on the slot machine which stalls are in use. You may find that when you put your money in the machine that the corresponding shower stall is locked, as happened to my wife.  The local town of Malden is 10 mins away and has a shopping mall with three good supermarkets.

Could be so nice

The site could be really beautiful, but it's been fully neglected, the grass needed cutting, a bit of weeding would not have gone a miss, some grass seed put down on the grass bald patches, a lick of paint on the buildings, and better control of 'DOG'S,and DOG'S MESS that really put us off, and Holland and the other camp sites were clean. What also surprised us, was the Camp Site Brochures, and Restaurant Menu was all in Dutch, yet the site cater for English Campers.very little interest shown when we politely complained, about all the dog pooh.

Wot no water

Stayed week ending 19/12/14 after week at Valkenburg (Christmas Markets Tour - recommended)

Easy to find just off motorway. Booking in at reception very simple, good english spoken. Had booked a super pitch but apparently the water had been turned off in case of frost! Good thing I had an aquaroll!  Shop was shut from 1st October, unknown to us, so no groceries. Ladies shower block closed so wife had to use men's showers (I did chuckle for a few seconds, I use the shower in the van) the restaurant was open but it was dense with tobacco smoke, as was the reception, so we didn't use it, so cannot comment on food. Pitches flat with approx ten in each area. Pool and children's play area closed (obviously in winter) but looked really good. Maybe we were expecting too much in winter but nothing on the Club description or the site's web site indicated that certain basic facilities were removed. We both felt that in the summer with children to cater for this would be a great site, unfortunately it was winter, fortunately no children! The Club did refund the difference between a basic pitch and a super pitch (arranged by site receptionist) so gold star for him. All in all, apart from the rain, it was OK. The surrounding area has much to see and you MUST see the Museum at Arnhem.
