This is a lovely site, about two miles, or 20 minutes walk, from the centre of Killarney. The lady on reception was friendly and advised us where to visit locally. We pitched our motorhome on one of the hard standings near the main entrance, nice and level. Water taps nearby or a hose by reception. No real noise problem with the railway line. The toilet/shower block was lovely and clean. You pay €1 for a shower but have no choice about the temperature of the water, luckily the temperature was ok for me. The only problem was that there is no heating in the shower block. Fine in summer but we visited this site in March, it was a bit chilly. We visited the Ring of Kerry but enjoyed the Dingle Peninsula much more as you can see the Kerry mountains across the water and it's a bit quieter. Muckross House and gardens were well worth a visit with a lovely walk to the waterfall. Courtney's Bar in Killarney was ideal for craft ales and delicious Guinness.
From the moment you drive in you get the impression that this site is run with great care, attention to detail and that includes investing in maintenance that other sites could take a lesson or two from.
We were welcomed and very well briefed on what to do as others have commented on - and we definitely packed more into our short stay than we would otherwise have done, really helpful.
Toilets and showers were immaculate, good electric supply, easy water and waste disposal, firm well drained pitches.
Very quiet - the trains really aren't a problem.
Whether you want to go to town, the multiple historic sites or head off into the country - the location is perfect.
I can't think of one thing to say about improving the site - we had a fantastic time and will definitely be back.
The layout is perfect and the ground is firm and well drained.
Having spent a week in County Wicklow, we came down to Killarney and This site, we were greeted with great friendliness and the lady gave us so much information it saved us searching for a tourist office, we did so much in the 7 nights we stayed. the ring of Beara, The Ring of Kerry, Rosscastle and much much more. A visit to a pub called the 'The Shire' Hobbit house really with good beer. The showers were some of the best we have been in, but be ready for paying 1 Euro per shower, slightly different to England. There is a railway line nearby high up and the trains don't start running until around 6 a.m. And we did not find it a problem, but when we arrived and saw it we wondered if it would be. This is a large site and we were there at the end of the season, so only a third was occupied. Overall a great site and very helpful owners. We have two dogs and were able to utilise the larger areas of the site that were unoccupied.
Site is usefully located for the west Coast rings - not just Kerry, but also the Dingle and Beara peninsula. Office were very helpful and friendly. Some areas of the site seemed too close packed with little privacy from neighbours. Loo block nearest the office was most modern, but lacked chemical dump or washing up area. Also we really regret there were no privacy cubicles in washroom area, and the showers were very busy when the German rolling hotel swept in. We'd still recommend the site, but choose your pitch carefully if you can.
We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful part of the world. The staff were very friendly and helpful on our arrival and our pitch was very good. However, a lot of the other pitches were very close together and the fire breaks were almost non existent. We also felt that the facilities, whilst very clean, would benefit from some routine maintenance.
We travelled here from Dublin after staying at Camac Valley - a trip of around 180 miles. The motorways and main roads are good with a great service area at Moneygall named after Barack Obama!
There was a good choice of pitches and the owners were very helpful on arrival. A mix of UK, Irish and European visitors on site. Excellent facilities for everyone including tents - if you have family of friends wanting to stay here in a tent while you are in your caravan it is ideal. The surrounding area is stunning - we visited the Dingle Peninsula (although it is a round trip of c120 miles), nearby Muckross House and Gardens and our favourite - the Gap of Dunloe, also nearby. On our first day we travelled 50 miles to Blarney Castle (to kiss the Blarney Stone!) and it was very busy, with an hour's wait to get to the top of Blarney Castle. Well worth it though :-) . The area is also ideal for cycling - whether leisure or road, plenty of choice in routes and locations. We didn't see a great deal of Killarney town centre with all our daytime jaunts. There is a good range of supermarkets nearby (Guinness was on special offer at Aldi!). Would fully recommend this site - be careful of the 180+ mile drive from Dublin though, you'd need an early ferry if you were to do it in a day
