Superb

This was our dream site and one that sits above all others. We do go to various sites around the UK and Europe, some adult only, but this tops the list of some very good sites I can't speak for the high season when more school age children would be on holiday, but in mid September, there were a few toddler types and the whole ambience of the site just blew us away. Beautifully maintained and everything we could possibly want for in terms of a relaxing caravan trip. The pitch (water and electricity) was enormous and screened from others. The showers were mixed, but on the plus side, were big and clean. The owners had thought of everything. The locality offers cycling - plenty of marked routes and a beautiful walk along the Saone, which is majestically wide and relaxing. Our dog paddled every day and had a swim from time to time. The site gave the details of the local markets (Louhans was well worth it) and it made a good starting point for sightseeing. The wine areas have pretty villages (Buxy) and caves for purchasing (Lugny). Fabulous place

Wow - fabulous relaxing site time for some luxury

Loved it here, a very well professionally run site, from welcome reception, to everyday advice and support. You may well end up just staying put and enjoying the grounds and facilities. If you fancy a cycle ride would recommend an 18 mile flat round trip along the river to Tournus, where the Abbey and Hotel Dieu are a must visit. Pop into the Petit Velo on the way back just before home to have a local welcome refreshment at a very reasonable price too. As others have mentioned a meal in the restaurant is well worth a treat, the beef bourginon is raved about, but the chicken is amazing as is the duck. Would highly recommend this site for a time to relax.

Best pitch

We had been allocated the best pitch so we may be a little biased. Excellent in every way. Great restaurant, good location for things to explore. Everyone was charming and friendly giving a great atmosphere. Wouldn't hesitate to go back. Just make sure you locate the swimming pool entrance from the site map before you set off to the pool because signage is poor. Free WiFi around the bar terrace. Very well run, attractive site.

The best presented site on our 2022 tour

The Chateau l'Eperviere must be one of the best provided for sites in France! Our week spent there in late May was a really pleasurable experience on a high quality campsite that reflects really well on it's owners. Our allocated super pitch was the largest we have ever experienced at some 300 sq mts. Site facilities were maintained in a very clean condition and the team are constantly working away on the grounds, pitches and the pool; the takeaway (serving largely pizzas but also provides beef bourgignon to die for) was excellent as was the on site restaurant in the Chateau. A small bar and shop operates in the courtyard for a couple of hours in the mornings and the evenings and wi-fi is available in that area of the park. In addition to the above, a snag with getting our awning through the rail was easily overcome with the provision of a stepladder by the owner - who cannot do enough to please his camping & caravanning guests. Places to visit from the site might perhaps include the highlight of the Hospice at Beaune (at 500 years old - the first hospital in France) - such an exquisite building! However, there are also vineyards aplenty and other good sightseeing in the area too.

Simply the best!

We have stayed here 3 times, the latest in September 2021 The staff are always very welcoming and always pleased to help and advise The site is very attractive centred around a small lake. (You may like to try and book a pitch with a lake view)The pitches and grounds are kept in immaculate condition Showers and toilets are plentiful and kept very clean The pool is not spectacular but attractive and well laid out The shop and bar are good. The restaurant is really first class - be sure to book in advance Cycle hire is available if you don’t have your own The ‘Blue’ cycle route which follows the River Saone is just 5 minutes away and there are plenty of other routes along quiet country roads Plenty of places to visit not least the many Macon villages, Cluny Abbey and the cities of Chalon, Beaume and Macon After over 30 years of camping/caravanning in France we’ve not found a better site ‘

Lovely, welcoming site

Lovely welcoming site. We were not happy with the pitch allocated and they did everything they could to make it right. We stayed on a pitch by the play field and it was perfect for the kids to play on and was a nice communal feel to it. The pools are nice but a bit on the small side for the size of the campsite. Kids club were lovey, did some nice activities and made sure everyone knew what they were doing and that they understand. I think there is capability to extend their evening entertainment for the families such as singers, quiz or something like that. Nice countryside around the campsite and peaceful enough to go for a bike ride. WiFi was slow.

Worth 6 stars

We have used L'Eperviere normally for short stays and always enjoyed the facilities on offer. This year we used it for a longer stay and was not disappointed. The area surrounding the Chateau is ideal for waking and biking. Sennecy le Grand is a lovely place with an interesting museum. The train is easily accessible and we used this to visit Beaune. The site itself is, we believe, the best of the Les Castels sites. The pitches and the surrounding areas are well maintained and the cleanliness of the toilets and showers second to none. We had an amazing meal in the restaurant Thank you to all the friendly, smiling staff for making this a first class site..

Great Stopover

We stayed for one night on the way back from the South and would have liked to stay a little longer. The site is beautifully laid out and we were given a large pitch which enabled us to stay hooked up for an early departure. The sanitary facilities were excellent and the restaurant very good and reasonably priced. We didn't use the pool but it looked nice. We cycled a short way along the river which was very pleasant although the track was quite rough and we didn't see anyone. The area is very quiet and having visited some truly wonderful scenery during our month in France we found this area disappointing although as you get closer to Beaune it improves. A lovely site we would like to visit again.

Convenient for one-night stop or longer stays

Stayed two nights enroute to Switzerland. 10-15 min drive from autoroute with good access. Level pitches and very open feel even when busy. Friendly staff. Excellent restaurant. Pleasant cycling/walking by the River Saone.
